Ubisoft “Went The Extra Mile” For Assassin’s Creed Shadows On PS5 Pro

The latest installment of Assassin’s Creed, titled Shadows, is now available, and if you’re considering playing it on a PlayStation 5 Pro, it seems like you’re in for a special experience! Ubisoft has put in extra effort to ensure that the PS5 Pro version stands out, aiming to provide a significant upgrade with the console’s enhanced capabilities, as stated by Ubisoft’s Nicolas Lopez.

Currently, it’s important to note that these comments are coming from someone involved in the game development process and undeniably enthusiastic about the project. However, Lopez was responding directly to a Digital Foundry review that praised the PS5 Pro version of Shadows as one of the most significant upgrades seen so far for an existing game on the PS5 Pro platform.

On the PlayStation 5 Pro, the “Performance” mode for Shadows offers ray-traced global illumination, a feature not accessible in the Performance mode of the regular PlayStation 5. According to Digital Foundry, this enhancement significantly alters the game, with noticeable improvements in shadow details and lighting.

Digital Foundry noted that running through various woodland areas, the contrast is astonishingly significant, showcasing a substantial generation gap in terms of light authenticity.

When it comes to frame rates, the Performance mode on the PS5 Pro matches the 60 frames per second (fps) of the regular PS5. However, there might be instances where frames temporarily dip on both consoles during certain sections. For a closer look, you can watch the Digital Foundry video provided below.

The story unfolds in 16th-century Japan, focusing on characters named Naoe and Yasuke. To delve deeper, read the review of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” by TopMob, and explore our guide section for a smooth beginning.
