Ubisoft Says Prince Of Persia Is “Just Warming Up” As Lost Crown Surpasses 2 Million Players

2 Million gamers have now played Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, according to a short update from Ubisoft. This milestone was reached around 15 months after its launch in January 2024, suggesting that the game may have an exciting future ahead within the series.

Approximately 2.1 million gamers have embraced the legend so far, as shared by Ubisoft on the official Prince of Persia X account. Rest assured, the prince has returned and he’s merely getting started in his thrilling journey.

As for the future of Prince of Persia by Ubisoft, it remains a mystery at this time. In October 2024, they dismantled the development team behind The Lost Crown due to disappointing sales, but those who worked on the game were reassigned within Ubisoft rather than being let go. It’s important to remember that having 2 million players doesn’t equate to 2 million sales. The Lost Crown was offered on Ubisoft+, Ubisoft’s subscription service, and was also included in the PS Plus Extra and Premium packages.

The game “The Lost Crown” was met with universal acclaim from critics, even earning praise from Steve Watts of TopMob, who described it as “so assured and flawlessly made that ‘Prince of Persia’ should essentially be defined by this version for the near future.” It’s rumored that Ubisoft turned down proposals for a sequel to The Lost Crown before disbanding the development team; however, the company never officially confirmed whether or not this was accurate.

Currently, it appears that The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake is moving forward with its release expected in the year 2026. Ubisoft initially unveiled this project back in 2020; however, due to several postponements, including an indefinite delay in 2021 and a complete overhaul in 2023, its progress has been slow. The development was resumed fully in June 2024, but since then, Ubisoft has kept mum about the project’s status.
