Ubisoft reveals Assassin's Creed Shadows vinyl releases with pre-orders now live

Ubisoft unveiled various vinyl editions of the upcoming “Assassin’s Creed Shadows“, which are set to be delivered in October. Pre-orders for these records are already available.

The soundtrack will come in multiple formats: a 4-vinyl box set, as well as separate album releases for three different albums. The first two LPs within the box set contain the original score for “The Fight,” while another LP focuses on music from “Kage No Iro” (Naoe), featuring tracks by TEKE::TEKE. Lastly, there’s a third LP called “UKOMBOZI,” which highlights music from Thunderdrum ft. Tiggs Da Author, primarily centered around Yasuke.

Ubisoft and Laced Records have once again joined forces to uphold their bond, with the goal of releasing the soundtrack from “Assassin’s Creed: Shadow” on vinyl records.
Now accepting pre-orders for the “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” – “Soundtrack Collection” Limited Edition 4LP box set, available exclusively at www.lacedrecords.com. This limited edition includes 44 expertly remastered tracks on translucent red and black splatter discs. The collection encompasses three albums crafted for the game: the main score, along with two albums dedicated to the game’s characters, which fuse psychedelic rock with Japanese melodies and instrumentation.

Original score
As a devotee of the Assassin’s Creed series, I’m thrilled to share that the duo The Flight, comprising Joe Henson and Alexis Smith, are back to enrich our gaming experience once more. They have crafted a score that encapsulates a somber, current vibe, seamlessly integrating traditional Japanese instrumentation with orchestral and electronic elements. This unique amalgamation of contemporary music production and age-old melodies mirrors the series’ intriguing blend of science fiction and historical narrative.
In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the two main characters, Naoe and Yasuke, are musically portrayed in distinctive ways: Naoe, with her preferred in-game tool, the clay flute (tsuchibue), and an eerie, ghostly whisper during stealth scenes; and Yasuke, through the sharper sounds of the Shamisen and rhythmic intensity.
The performance during the flight featured skilled musicians playing traditional Japanese instruments such as Keiko Kitamura on the Koto and Hibiki Ichikawa on the Shamisen. Other performers included vocalist Akari Mochizuki, flautists Kristin Naigus, Oriol Singh, and Andy Findon. Additionally, Michael Georgiades, who collaborated with The Flight on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, was also part of the music ensemble.
‘Kage No Iro’
As a diehard fan, I’d say it was an absolute thrill for Montreal-based band TEKE::TEKE to be asked to create the memorable ‘needle drop’ moments for the swift and stealthy protagonist Naoe in “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”. Their surf and psych rock vibes perfectly aligned with the game’s direction, prompting the developers to envision a Tarantino-esque soundtrack when selecting music. Interestingly enough, instead of adapting Jesper Kyd’s iconic series theme, “Ezio’s Family”, into part of the score music as usual, they were given the unique challenge of interpreting it as a standalone piece. The band members’ shared Japanese heritage resonated deeply with the game’s setting, and their immersion in the project led them to tap into ‘shinobi-do’, the fundamental philosophy of the shinobi that lies at the heart of the game.
‘UKOMBOZI’
As a devoted admirer, I’d express it like this: Working tirelessly to breathe life into the redemptive tale of Yasuke, the talented Thunderdrum trio (Alex Cameron Ward, Félix Rebaud-Sauer & Hugo Brijs) joined forces with the gifted British-Tanzanian vocalist Tiggs Da Author, a creative spirit who has previously collaborated with icons such as J Hus and Stefflon Don. In a remarkable fusion of Morricone-inspired guitars, East African rhythms, traditional Japanese flutes, and psych-rock instrumentals, Thunderdrum showcased their exceptional skills in guitar music and scoring. Meanwhile, Tiggs Da Author ventured bravely into uncharted waters, making his debut singing in the beautiful language of Swahili with this release.
