Ubisoft „quietly” upgraded the store pages of 9 Assassin’s Creed games on Steam. Players don’t know what to think about it

Ubisoft may have given a hint (once more) to gamers that a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag could be coming soon. As per the updates on Steam, Ubisoft appears to have announced today some new additions to the well-liked 2013 game.

Fans are discussing the possibility that these additions to the original game store page could be in anticipation of the upcoming remake. Today, some new sections have been included.

  1. non-standard volume level;
  2. stereo sound;
  3. spatial sound;
  4. control only with a mouse;
  5. adjustable difficulty level;
  6. possibility of saving at any moment.

Currently, you can find Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag among other similar productions in the store based on shared features. However, it’s important to note that at this point, Black Flag doesn’t support play using just a mouse, and this limitation suggests that the changes made may not be purely cosmetic on the Steam store page. These tags have been part of the Valve platform for quite some time now, indicating that further improvements should be anticipated in the future.

It’s worth noting that The Hidden One pointed out these peculiar tags didn’t only show up on the Steam page for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Instead, they appeared on the pages of all major Assassin’s Creed installments released after 2014, such as Unity, Rogue, Syndicate, Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, Mirage, and Shadows. It seems these games have incorporated these new elements (with some having them for a while, but not all of them), suggesting Ubisoft may be making quiet updates to their titles’ pages as well as subtly modifying the games themselves, much like they did when adding achievements to certain games in the past.

Despite repeatedly hinting at it, the developer has yet to officially announce a remake of Black Flag this time around. In May, a cryptic message was shared on their X account, and in June, actor Matt Ryan – known for his role in the fourth installment – subtly encouraged fans about potential updates. To add fuel to the speculation, another hint related to the series surfaced on social media at the beginning of July.

This year, Ubisoft Forward event was canceled due to lack of fresh games ready for presentation. Yet, it’s expected that the company will come back with a show in 2026, possibly marking the official unveiling of the eagerly awaited remake of “Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag”.
