In September 2020, Ubisoft announced they were remaking the cherished action-adventure game, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. However, as of now, there’s still no release date for this game, five years after the announcement. This week, Ubisoft reassured fans that work on the game is still in progress, but they didn’t share many updates about its current development status.
From the Prince of Persia account on Twitter, Ubisoft announced that development is ongoing privately, expressing gratitude to fans for their patience and support during this extended period. Additionally, they released a stunning artwork supposedly from the remake, which you can view in the tweet below.

During their latest earnings discussion, Ubisoft revealed that they aim to debut the remake by no later than March 31, 2026. This narrows down the initial 2026 release estimate, which in turn followed various news articles about the game’s development challenges.
For enthusiasts of Sands of Time, the remake is yet to arrive, but t The Lost Crown may not receive a follow-up as Ubisoft dissolved the development team last fall.
After experiencing a challenging year, Ubisoft has mostly kept silent about their project pipeline. They had minimal participation at the Summer Game Fest this month, and they didn’t organize their usual summer Ubisoft Forward event. This may be because they have chosen to postpone several of their key upcoming releases.
