Ubisoft Learns From Scandal Surrounding The Crew; Sequels Will Get an Offline Mode. Check Out Free Map Expansion in Motorfest and Other Big News

As a die-hard fan of The Crew series, I can hardly contain my excitement with the recent announcements! The offline mode for both The Crew 2 and The Crew: Motorfest is a game-changer, even if it won’t bring back our beloved “only child” (The Crew original). And who knows? Maybe this decision will prompt Nacon to introduce similar options in Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown, which is currently struggling with early access woes.

Following the incident, there’s been ongoing discussion about it online, so you might remember the controversy surrounding the shutdown (“killing”) of The Crew’s servers around six months ago. Ubisoft has acknowledged and responded to the uproar – we now learn that an offline mode will be implemented for both The Crew 2 and The Crew: Motorfest at some point in the future.

No specific information has been given yet on how this feature will work (anticipated to be provided in the “upcoming months”). Although it won’t bring the “only child” back to life, the decision can initially be assessed positively. Who knows, maybe it will inspire the Nacon company to introduce a similar option in the game Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown, which is already struggling with unstable servers in early access for the “chosen ones…”

New island in the 5th season

Let’s return our focus to “The Crew: Motorfest”, as an upcoming update slated for November 6 will not only introduce new features to the game, but it also kicks off the fifth season. This milestone signifies a major advancement in the game’s development, marking the commencement of the second year of support for the title.

Today, I’m thrilled to share that starting from now, my favorite game is extending its map at no cost, incorporating the stunning second major island, Maui! This exciting news was shared back in June, and now, we finally get a glimpse of the action-packed gameplay (check it out below) showcasing an array of new locations. One of these locations includes a breathtaking bridge connecting Maui to O’ahu, without any pesky loading screens interrupting the fun!

There’s going to be a lot of new things to do there, and the “Made in Japan Vol. 2” playlist will take the lead among the free options, furthering the narrative about Japanese automotive culture.

In addition, the upcoming update brings an anticipated modification: the car mirrors will now show accurate reflections, as intended since the initial release of the series. Additionally, players will get a chance to acquire vehicles and seasonal rewards (like those from Summit challenges that were previously missed) by utilizing “prestige tickets,” a fresh currency gained by replaying completed playlists in custom mode. This could potentially stimulate the creators of Forza Horizon 5.

Chase Squad and Year 2 Pass

In addition to the Year 2 Pass, you’ll find some exciting new paid features. These features will primarily gift you with “Chase Squad,” an engaging quasi-police game mode where you can join in the pursuit of AI-controlled drivers, either solo or in teams. A thematic playlist will be provided to familiarize you with this new experience, allowing you to try out seven different quasi-police vehicles, such as a helicopter.

Furthermore, this pass comes with 13 brand-new vehicles, many of which can be acquired without additional downloadable content using in-game currency, much like the Year 1 Pass. On November 6, you’ll find the BMW M5 CS (2022) and Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 (1989). The rest of the cars will be introduced at a pace of one per month, with the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT (2021) and Maserati MC20 Cielo (2023) among them. Gameplay also includes the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS (gen 992), although its release date and method for inclusion in the game remain unclear.

The Crew 2 for half off

The Crew Showcase was also highlighted by special sales. The Crew 2 is now available almost for free – it costs $1 on all platforms (Steam, PS Store, Xbox Store). The game The Crew: Motorfest has also been heavily discounted – on Steam you can buy this title for $19.79. The price has been lowered for only certain editions on consoles, the standard one has not been discounted yet. The offers will expire on the night of September 23rd to 24th.

In TCM, logging into the game the day after The Crew Showcase will earn you a complimentary 2017 Lamborghini Urus for your in-game garage.
