Ubisoft Finally Adds Steam Achievements For Assassin's Creed Valhalla

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of relief and satisfaction seeing Ubisoft finally addressing one of the long-standing complaints from their community – the lack of Steam Achievements in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It seems like they’ve learned from past mistakes, as their upcoming title, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, promises to support this essential feature from day one!

Due to sluggish sales for Star Wars Outlaws after its August 2024 debut, French publisher Ubisoft has decided to revise their strategies by making some of their most popular games available on Steam simultaneously with their release. This will include Star Wars Outlaws and the Wild Card DLC in November 2024, as well as Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which was initially set for a November 2024 launch but has now been pushed back to February 2025. However, critics have persistently pointed out that existing Ubisoft titles on Steam have not received sufficient focus.

In December 2022, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was one of Ubisoft’s releases; however, it was noted that the game didn’t initially support Steam Achievements. But now, good news for players as the publisher has recently announced an update introducing a Quality-of-Life improvement to the action-adventure game on Steam.

Ubisoft Finally Adds Steam Achievements For Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Approximately two years following its debut on Steam, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has finally incorporated support for a key gameplay aspect that players had been eagerly anticipating: Steam Achievements are now available in the game. This development comes after numerous complaints from gamers regarding the absence of this feature following the initial release, despite some indifference from the publisher about incorporating them into the game.

According to SteamDB’s records, the publisher introduced the Steam Achievements feature on October 7th, 2024, and it went live the next day, on October 8th, 2024. This was later confirmed in a Steam News article stating that “Steam Achievements are now accessible for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players.” These achievements can be earned “retroactively” by players who have already completed them during their gameplay, if they were playing the game prior to this update.

Could it be possible that the Steam Achievements feature for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, set to release on Steam in October 2024, will be accessible from the start? Given that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players can now earn their Steam Achievements retroactively, it seems hopeful. And as confirmed by its Steam listing, the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game does indicate support for Steam Achievements upon release!
