Another actor, Mario Rodriguez, has filed a lawsuit accusing Tyler Perry of sexual assault. According to the lawsuit, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Perry allegedly made unwanted sexual advances towards Rodriguez over multiple years, including an incident in 2018 where he allegedly hugged him tightly and inappropriately touched him. This follows a similar lawsuit filed by Derek Dixon, who is seeking $260 million from Perry, also alleging sexual assault and harassment.
In a lawsuit, Mario Rodriguez claims Tyler Perry contacted him through a trainer at Equinox, requesting an audition for Boo! A Madea Halloween. Perry reportedly told Rodriguez, “Having me on your side wouldn’t be a bad thing,” implying a potential benefit to the audition.
Rodriguez claims that after agreeing to the role, Perry invited him over to his Los Angeles home. They spent the evening having drinks and watching a movie, and Rodriguez alleges that Perry inappropriately touched him, specifically rubbing his inner thigh near his genitals.
According to the legal complaint, in 2018, after a dinner at Mastro’s Steakhouse, the director allegedly sexually assaulted Mr. Rodriguez while they were driving to Perry’s home. The complaint states the director reached into Rodriguez’s underwear and touched him inappropriately. After the incident, Perry reportedly apologized and gave Rodriguez $5,000.
Perry’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, dismissed the claims, stating that the accuser previously lost a case against Mr. Perry and is now attempting another unsuccessful claim from over a decade ago to get money. Jonathan Delshad is representing both Rodriguez and Dixon. Dixon’s lawsuit, initially filed in California state court, has been transferred to federal court in Georgia.
