Two Shocking Departures Rock Hope Valley in When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 9!

In simpler terms, we’ve reached a point where the narrative takes an extraordinary turn! The Garrison gang has made their way to Hope Valley in the twelfth season’s ninth episode of “When Calls the Heart”, and this can only signal some upheaval ahead.

In today’s modern times, one wouldn’t stumble into a mobster’s gathering after a movie outing or learn the Charleston dance. Nowadays, the drama in When Calls the Heart revolves around two significant issues: the Garrison gang and the enigma of Ava, who claims to be an heiress.

For a while now, there’s been an ongoing probe into accusations that it played a role in the 1907 Great Train Robbery. To add to this, even Melissa Gilbert, who starred in Little House on the Prairie, was brought onboard, but this led only to Sonny managing to break out of prison.

Intriguingly enough, the captivating television series has yet to disclose Ava’s real persona, but fortunately, when we delve into When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 9, it sheds light on both aspects. Caution: spoilers lie ahead!

Rosemary tries to uncover Ava’s identity in When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 9

In the start of Season 12, Episode 9 of When Calls the Heart, there’s a significant development for Bill and Nathan: Sonny Garrison, who we learned had escaped from prison in Episode 8, is on the loose once more.

Rosemary, who’s known for being reserved, admits that Ava, the town’s buzzworthy actress, was impressive in the play, but stops short of liking her. Elizabeth remains skeptical about Ava’s tales, but Rosemary is beginning to attribute it to her dramatic skills. Meanwhile, Nathan informs Elizabeth that he and Bill are going on a surveillance mission. He’s unsure when he’ll return, asking if Allie could stay in the house during his absence.

At the store where they work, Elizabeth and Rosemary hear a telegram delivered for Ava. Elmer Petersen has reported that his lost luggage matches the type she collected. The train station calls her to verify if the luggage truly belongs to her, causing Ava to feel somewhat irritated by the situation.

In Rosemary’s office, I confide in Elizabeth that I sensed she was concealing something. Though Elizabeth thinks the luggage matter isn’t definitive evidence, it’s one too many discrepancies in Ava’s narrative for me to accept at face value. With Bill and Nathan occupied, I decide to delve deeper into the mystery myself.

When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 6 recap: Allie discovers Oliver’s huge secret

As a gamer, let me recount my recent adventure: I found myself creeping towards a hidden woodland lodge, tracking the scent of our quarry until the trail went cold. In the interim, Sonny crossed paths again with that enigmatic character from last week, who turns out to be his cousin. “Got it?” Sonny inquired, to which the man produced a map marking the location of Lovers Tree. Meanwhile, I made my way to the stable, hatching a plan to bring down McGinty with Henry’s assistance.

Lucas is told to bypass negotiations with the Cattlemen and issue an executive order instead, without their approval or any legislation. Henry warns that this move could cost Lucas support and even his governorship, but he’ll get the park in return. To this, Lucas replies, “Alright, let’s see if we can find a way to make him step aside.

Our mystery man gets Allie and Oliver in trouble

In a slightly different phrasing: Minnie, Joseph, and Angela embark on a campus tour of the school for visually impaired students. However, before their journey begins, Angela realizes she has forgotten an essential item. Minnie reminds her that if Angela aspires to live independently, she must demonstrate responsibility. Upon arrival, they encounter Clementine, a student at Schwartzmann, who warmly puts them at ease.

At the saloon, Edie and Lee first meet when she checks in. Edie expresses her apologies for McGinty’s situation and mentions that she’s beginning to adopt Hope Valley’s perspective. “Maybe one day we’ll find ourselves on the same team,” Edie suggests.

Lucas shows up, causing Edie to look distressed. She reveals she’s in town due to Ernie possibly linking up with the Garrison gang. Lucas invites her out for dinner, to which Edie agrees, but suggests a “business dinner” instead. Lee looks on in shock.

In the café, an enigmatic individual, having eavesdropped on Allie and Oliver’s conversation about the locality, approaches them. This person seems well-informed about the area. He presents a sketchy map, crediting it to either “Jake,” “No Jack,” or “Jackson.” He states that he seeks a tree where his parents once engraved their initials. The pair offer to guide him there as a reciprocal gesture. In an abrupt and impolite manner, the stranger brushes past Molly, who has been observing the entire incident, as he exits the café.

In the saloon later on, Rosemary queries Mike about whether Ava’s suitcase remains in her room. Lee mentions they verified it was hers, but they didn’t peer inside. When Mike wonders what the situation is, Rosemary proposes enquiring about it from Ava – who happens to be standing right behind them, picking up on the tension – if she would prefer to store her trunk instead.

In essence, this tactic serves as a covert pretext for them to surreptitiously inspect it. Mike argues they don’t have access to storage, while Lee objects to letting Rosemary enter Ava’s room. As an alternative, Rosemary adopts another method – examining her room from the exterior.

Ava comes clean about her past

As I arrive at Ava’s place, I spot her scaling down from her window, carrying that mysterious trunk. Meanwhile, Rosemary and Elizabeth are huddled around a corner, strategizing their next steps. In the blink of an eye, Ava hurls the trunk into a waiting wagon below and vanishes back inside her room, all without drawing any attention.

Inside, they approach her, yet Mike hastily brings the chest indoors just as neither could voice their questions. Lee harbors mistrust towards Rosemary, but Elizabeth requests a conversation with Ava instead. “I guess now is as opportune a moment as any,” she replies.

Ava admits the truth – she isn’t an heiress, and neither of her parents are currently on a trip. She assures that she will repay the bill in some manner, confessing that she used to be a decoy for mentalist/swindler Clive Maxwell.

Clive planned to manipulate Ava (make her a target) for a trick in his act, using the information later on stage. When Ava found out it was Clive she’d been dealing with, he threatened to call the police on her. Ava then revealed that they were both in Hope Valley to test a new scam involving pickpocketing, where Ava would pretend to faint while items were being stolen. The target turned out to be Pinkerton, leading Clive to accuse Ava of stealing the items instead.

Consequently, Ava took off running. She had been intrigued by Hope Valley after reading Elizabeth’s book, describing it as a “truly magical destination.” Elizabeth advised Ava to take action to resolve the situation. The narrative then shifts to Allie, Oliver, and Sonny’s relative, who grew uneasy upon observing Oliver utilizing a Mountie-issued compass for navigation. In a hurry, he warned the children, “Forget we ever crossed paths,” snatching the map away as Sonny stepped out from the woods at that very moment.

In a turn of events, I find myself compelled to complete our unfinished business, given Oliver’s presence. Upon recognizing me, he swiftly utters, “Sonny Garrison, that’s the man on the wanted posters.” To which I retort with a smirk, “Guess you’re not as forgetful as they say.

Sonny Garrison puts Hope Valley in danger

In simpler terms, Sonny asks Oliver for assistance in unearthing something, implying that everyone will be content afterwards. Meanwhile, with Oliver and Sonny moving away, Allie removes her bow from her hair and leaves it on a tree as a clue for others to find their location.

Lucas acknowledges to Lee that working on the park has delayed their friendship and takes too long. He admits it might have strained their bond but assures him he’s found a solution, though it will come at a personal cost. When Lee inquires about Edie, Lucas expresses optimism that she’ll understand his actions are for the best.

When Elizabeth searches for Allie at the saloon, Molly informs her that she observed Allie conversing with Oliver, along with one of Mike’s patrons. Mike mentions that a person named Woody Garris arrived, reminding Molly of their conversation on the phone recently. Together, they deduce that Woody is related to Sonny Garrison, and Henry verifies that Sonny has indeed fled. With this knowledge, Mike, Elizabeth, and Henry depart in pursuit, leaving Molly behind in case the children return.

At the tree, Allie, Oliver, Sonny, and Woody begin to dig, as their rescue group arrives on horseback. Bill and Nathan meet up, speculating that Ernie stumbled upon hidden treasure, keeping it secret from his niece and having no connection to the Garrisons whatsoever. Their hypothesis is that he just found the gold by chance. Elizabeth retrieves Allie’s bow ahead of others, while Oliver discovers a chest during their digging. Sonny observes that the lock on the chest has already been broken, revealing an empty container inside.

Sonny activates Woody, who claims he was just following orders. Allie and Oliver persuade them that either Woody or Jake had returned earlier to dig it up, with no intention of sharing with the group. Meanwhile, Elizabeth quietly makes her way over, accompanied by Bill and Nathan, who have been briefed by Henry as they walk along.

Sonny gets arrested and Ava leaves town for good

As Allie attempts to slip away, Elizabeth moves towards them. Pretending to be signaling animals with a bell, Elizabeth actually signals her presence to the group, acting as their teacher in the process.

In other words, Sonny prevents everyone from departing, and things become more complicated when Woody unintentionally calls him by his name. Elizabeth informs them that she and many others in town are aware of their identities, and assistance is forthcoming – if he wishes to flee, he’d be quicker by himself. Oliver physically confronts Sonny as the group scatters, with Nathan showing up just in time to knock Sonny down. Bill manages to grab Woody while Nathan re-arrests Sonny.

After wrapping up our successful mission at the station, we all patted ourselves on the back, with Nathan giving a special shout-out to Oliver and Allie. As we stepped into the saloon, we were met with cheers, and Rosemary turned to me, asking for my help regarding Ava’s predicament.

Lucas and Edie have dinner together at the cafe, but Mike and Mei accidentally leave the shop open. During their conversation, Lucas reveals a new executive order, which Edie acknowledges in a professional manner. However, she playfully warns Lucas that he’s “starting a war,” suggesting McGinty might seek revenge. Despite this, what matters most to Lucas is maintaining Edie’s friendship.

I shared with Minnie my hesitation about going to Schwartzmann, feeling unsure about managing on my own. Minnie encouraged me to give it a try, reminding me of the sense of belonging I experienced during our previous visits. As escorted by the police, I approached the courthouse, the Pinkertons offering to expunge my past records if I’d testify. With Rosemary’s reassurance that Hope Valley would always be a welcoming home for me, I decided it was time to leave town permanently.
