It would be great to see Bowser Jr. in the movie, but his appearance isn’t essential. He’s a character from the original game with his own battle, so including him would fit well.
Wario is a much more compelling character, especially since he wasn’t included in either of the Galaxy games. Having played those games, it’s difficult to imagine how he would even fit into the storyline.
One Reddit user pointed out that while putting Wario in a Galaxy-style Mario game might seem strange, Nintendo previously surprised people by including Donkey Kong in a Super Mario Bros. game, suggesting anything is possible.
