Twitch streamer panics after magician’s trick sets studio on fire

Twitch streamers quickly evacuated their studio when a fire broke out during a live stream.

Carter Efe is a well-known Nigerian content creator who entertains audiences with comedy and live streams. He has gained a large following online, with over 679,000 followers on Twitch.

Efe, like many popular streamers who broadcast real-life events, often streams with his friends while they’re having fun. However, a recent stream took a bad turn when a magic trick went wrong.

Nigerian comedian’s Twitch stream erupts in flames

On May 28th, Efe and his friends had a magician on their show to do some magic tricks.

While performing, the magician lit a small prop with a lighter, but it quickly became more flammable than he anticipated. He panicked and dropped it to the ground.

The group ran from the studio as the fire grew rapidly. The heat was so strong it even disrupted the video recording, and flames quickly spread to everything around them.

The crew successfully put out the fire, but exactly how they did it remains a mystery, as most of what we know comes from audio recordings.

Okay, so we got the stream back on a little while after things calmed down. It was pretty smoky, and we were all trying to clean up the mess. Luckily, nobody got hurt! Eventually, Efe and the rest of the team decided to head out to another spot to hang out, just to get away from all the smoke.

The incident quickly spread across social media when popular Apex Legends streamer ‘Mister Arther’ happened to see the live broadcast while watching Twitch’s ‘Just Chatting’ section during the fire.

Arther was stunned and exclaimed to his online chat, “Is this really happening? The timing is unbelievable! Are you serious?”

This isn’t the first fire incident on Efe’s streams. Back in August 2025, a performer attempting a fire trick caused flames to erupt, accidentally setting Efe’s clothes on fire.

He’s not the first streamer to accidentally start a fire on camera. It brings to mind IShowSpeed, who famously set off a Pikachu firework in his room before becoming well-known in 2022. That incident led to a visit from firefighters and a stern talking-to from his mom.
