Twitch streamer narrowly escapes stalker while visiting Tokyo

As a seasoned Twitch streamer and digital nomad, I’ve had my fair share of unique experiences, but none as unsettling as the time I found myself being stalked in Tokyo. It was a chilling reminder of the dark side of our connected world, where anonymity can breed danger.

On November 11th, while live-streaming from a train in Tokyo, Twitch personality MilkyPuff found herself the subject of quiet observation by an unidentified man, sparking concern among her viewers who speculated he might have been watching her stream.

Initially, Milky remained unconvinced, yet things took a turn as he started tracking her across multiple trains. This eventually made her feel uneasy.

She explained to TopMob via email, “I essentially informed my chat, ‘I believe he’s tracking me,’ but put it another way. I suggested, ‘If this is indeed his stop, let’s wait here for him to exit the station before we depart.’ However, he didn’t leave the station. Instead, he remained on the platform, just like me.

In simpler terms, the unknown individual trailed Milky onto the following train carriage, maintaining a position directly behind her while she carried on streaming live content. The viewers in her chat quickly labeled this man as an “inappropriate person,” offering advice and describing his appearance to the streamer, as she felt uncomfortable looking him straight in the eye.

I became quite concerned since he didn’t depart from the station along with others who disembarked the train. The conversation mentioned that he seemed to be staring at me. Curious, I inquired about his appearance, and they described him as wearing a blue hat.

In my mind, I pondered, ‘It’s essential for me to part ways with this individual as I must depart. However, if I approach the authorities, there’s a significant risk they won’t back my story, take no action, or he might spin it as me being confused, just needing directions, or acting irrationally.’

It was then that Milky thought of a plan. She chose to deceive the man into thinking she was boarding the following train. However, just when he least expected it, she slipped away, effectively making her getaway and leaving him to catch the train alone.

She said, “I believed I could make him disappear by taking the reverse train from the one we were already on, leaving only a moment before it reached its final stop.

Following the arrival of the train, I stepped aboard, finding myself near the doors. Shortly afterwards, he joined too, as the conductor warned that the doors would close momentarily. In a fluster when I noticed he was indeed tailing me, I didn’t move until I could hear the doors actually shutting, at which point I quickly squeezed through them and found myself back on the platform of the train station.

As the train pulled away, I found myself meeting his gaze directly for the first time, rather than glancing off his mirror image. It was quite unsettling, as he seemed to be intently watching me and followed me with his eyes until the train disappeared from view.

Luckily, Milky managed to escape the odd man safely without any harm and decided not to engage with him further, partially due to the vigilant viewers who kept an eye on her in the chat room. Now, she’s utilizing this experience to offer guidance for others who may encounter similar circumstances.

She recommended that if you ever feel unsafe, it’s best to remain in populated places, and, if you find yourself in a situation where someone appears to be tailing you, particularly in Tokyo, you should consider taking a taxi home for safety reasons.

Milky is one of numerous female streamers who have fallen victim to stalking and harassment. On TopMob, we’ve reported on similar occurrences, like the instance when a stalker of Twitch star Amouranth traveled from Estonia to her residence in an attempt to force his way into her home.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve noticed that many well-known female streamers like SweetAnita, BrookeAB, and LilyPichu have bravely stood up against inappropriate behavior. They’ve been using their voices to demand action from social media platforms and law enforcement, hoping to create a safer gaming environment for all of us.
