The Norwegian live-streamer ‘detoo’ has been prohibited from Twitch and lost his driving privileges following an incident where he deliberately came close to hitting a cyclist while streaming, on the public road.
Last April’s chilly night found me behind the wheel, cruising around Lillestrøm, a quaint Norwegian township, while streaming the journey live on Twitch with my buddies as my virtual passengers.
As I pedaled through the night, a fellow cyclist, illuminated by his flashlight, emerged from the opposing lane, ensuring his visibility amidst the darkness.
Appearing to play a prank, detoo switched off his car’s headlights and inched into the bike lane, making it seem like he was deliberately trying to hit the cyclist before swiftly returning to his own lane on the road.
As Detoo and his companions chuckled over the incident in their vehicle, grim repercussions swiftly ensued. A few days down the line, Detoo’s Twitch channel faced a ban, displaying a message indicating that he was temporarily suspended due to “breaching Twitch’s Community Rules or Service Agreement.
In addition, it’s worth noting that the streamer had his driver’s license revoked under Section 3 of Norway’s Road Traffic Act, according to Norwegian media sources.

Local authorities claim they learned about the event through a tip following the widespread sharing of a video clip from Detoo’s live stream, which garnered criticism on platforms such as Reddit and X.
Project manager Hustad stated that we got numerous suggestions, some through phone calls and others through the police’s tip log, regarding the driving behavior.

On Wednesday, April 16th, police apprehended detoo at a gas station and confiscated his driving permit, which he apparently disputed on the spot. Currently, he’s being investigated, and the cyclist involved in his accident remains unidentified by authorities.
In a statement to news outlets, Duty Officer Eirik Skjeldrum from the Eastern Police District clarified their decision to seize detoo’s driver’s license. They stated that the driving behavior shown in the video warranted such action.
So far, Detoo hasn’t made any public comments about the incident, and it’s uncertain for how long he’ll be suspended. However, this recent ban on Twitch seems to be another instance arising from reckless driving, adding to the growing list of such incidents.
As an enthusiastic follower, here’s how I might rephrase it:
On April 13th, my favorite streamer, ExtraEmily, found herself in hot water due to a 24-hour ban. The reason? She live-streamed herself running a red light, which certainly isn’t the best move when you’re under the spotlight. On the other hand, back in summer 2024, StableRonaldo from FaZe was suspended for similar reckless driving antics during a broadcast. His actions caused quite a stir on social media platforms, leading to widespread criticism.
