As a dedicated follower, I’ve got to say, RaKai is undeniably making waves on Twitch. At just 16 years old, he’s soaring through the ranks and establishing himself as one of the platform’s biggest creators. Yet, recently, he’s found himself in a whirlwind of controversy after broadcasting an incident where it seemed like he nearly wrecked his car, all while glued to his phone.
Multiple videos taken during the live broadcast show RaKai looking intently at his phone as he drives along a wet highway. One clip captures him appearing distressed, struggling to regain control of the vehicle after drifting dangerously close to the edge of the road.
Many viewers are expressing anger, creating multiple posts asking Twitch to suspend the streamer due to irresponsible driving behavior, as they believe this action goes against the clear guidelines in Twitch’s Terms of Service regarding distracted driving.
Rakai remains unbanned after almost crashing on stream
2xRaKai consistently draws more than 20,000 viewers to his Twitch streams, making him one of the platform’s top streamers. He gained some of his popularity through engagement with Kai Cenat, and his Streamer University significantly increased viewership for the up-and-coming streamer.
As a dedicated follower of RaKai, I can’t help but express my concern over an incident where he seemed to be engrossed in his phone while behind the wheel. It’s understandable that we all get distracted sometimes, but safety should always come first.
The video you see here is just one instance that gained widespread attention on Reddit, attracting a mix of critical feedback from its viewers.
“Hope he doesn’t kill anyone. I’ve lost a friend to rain + distracted driver,” said one user.
Another commented, ‘This video is quite outrageous! It seems you’ve just established a rule about driving while streaming, and this appears to be your first major challenge.’
Another segment displays him fixating on his mobile device uninterruptedly for a full seven seconds, positioning it right in front of him and thus obstructing the view of the path ahead.

He suddenly slammed on the brakes before coming to a full stop to read his phone safely.
Previously, broadcasters have faced bans due to dangerous driving, such as when ExtraEmily drove through a red light while streaming live. After expressing remorse for her actions, she was temporarily removed from the platform. However, she was eventually welcomed back onto Twitch not long after.
It remains to be seen whether or not Twitch decides to ban RaKai after this controversy.
