Hey everyone, so at TwitchCon Europe 2026 in Rotterdam, Twitch just revealed this awesome new feature! Basically, it uses AI to give you a quick summary of a stream before you even tune in. That way, you can jump right into the action without missing a beat, even if you couldn’t catch the beginning. It’s super handy for those times when I hop into a stream late!
This feature was announced at the start of TwitchCon Europe on May 30th, during a presentation led by Mary Kish and Twitch CEO Dan Clancy.
AI catchup for latecomers
Twitch’s new stream summary feature uses AI to create a quick recap of everything that’s happened in a stream so far, according to their official blog.
We’re excited to introduce a new feature called Mid-Stream Summary! It creates a quick recap of what’s been happening in a live stream, so you can easily catch up without needing to watch from the beginning.

People who start watching a livestream partway through will see a brief summary, helping them quickly understand what’s happening and feel caught up.
Twitch plans to keep testing and adjusting how much information it shares as it introduces this new feature.
Along with several new features, Twitch announced AI-powered summaries. Other updates include 2K streaming for Partners and Affiliates, vertical videos optimized for mobile, and automatically created video highlights based on chat and voice cues.
Twitch also confirmed TwitchCon Europe 2027 will take place in Berlin on May 22-23.
Rare Minecraft capes given away at TwitchCon Rotterdam are now being sold on eBay for more than $1,000.
