Twistzz on Old Liquid: "There Was a Lack of Work Ethic."

As a passionate CS:2 fan and follower of Team Liquid, I’ve been closely watching the team’s roster changes during this off-season. The departure of in-game leader cadiaN and coach zews, followed by the addition of jks and mithR, has stirred up quite a buzz in the CS:2 community.

During the esports hiatus in Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), Team Liquid experienced significant roster upheaval. They shifted Danish IGL and AWPer, Casper “cadiaN” Møller, to the bench, and subsequently parted ways with their coach Wilton “zews” Prado.

I was thrilled when our team, Liquid, brought on Justin “jks” Savage and coach Torbjørn “mithR” Nyborg, and appointed Canadian Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken as our new in-game leader earlier this year. Recently, during an interview with Pley.gg at BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024’s media day, Twistzz opened up about why the old Liquid struggled in the first half of 2024.

There was a lack of work ethic in the team.

The game wasn’t functioning effectively, whether inside or outside its rules. There was a lack of connection and harmony among the players. Sadly, it was hard to enjoy the game without those elements. As for the first season of 2024, there isn’t much to comment on. I’m excited for the upcoming rebuild instead.

Casper “cadiaN” Møller and Wilton “zews” Prado were let go from the team around the six-month mark. Twistzz shared that the dynamic of the old Team Liquid felt distinctly unlike his current experience with FaZe, led by Finn “karrigan” Andersen, without going into further detail.

I’ve been following CS:GO esports for quite some time now, and let me tell you, the upcoming BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024 event is one I’m really looking forward to. This tournament is a big deal in the scene, featuring sixteen of the best teams from around the world. And guess what? It all goes down in Copenhagen, Denmark, from July 29 to August 4, 2024.

On July 31, 2024, Team Liquid begins competition in Group D against Virtus.pro. The anticipation builds as we observe the influence of Russell “Twistzz” Van Dulken’s leadership on Team Liquid during their first match.
