Initially, the first installment of Twisted Metal lacked the car combat competition that defines the video game series. But, when it comes to Twisted Metal Season 2, things are quite distinct. In a sneak peek at the upcoming season, the Twisted Metal tournament officially commences… and it’s nothing short of magnificent.
Despite Anthony Mackie’s prominent role as John Doe, the captivating psychopathic clown, Sweet Tooth, who operates an ice cream truck in combat, steals the spotlight. The character Sweet Tooth is embodied by AEW wrestler Joe “Samoa Joe” Seanoa, while Will Arnett provides the voiceover. In the video above, Sweet Tooth instructs his sidekick to set himself on fire, a small prelude to the impending battle.
As I navigate through the chaotic game world, my trusty partner, Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz), is right beside me, a beacon of calm amidst the chaos. While others are solely focused on their own survival, some barely escaping the hangar before the hail of bullets begins.
In the chaos we see unfold, Calypso – portrayed by Anthony Carrigan in the Barry series – orchestrates the events. This enigmatic character has vowed that the victor of the Twisted Metal tournament will receive a singular wish. However, whether he can fulfill his seemingly unattainable pledges is yet to be determined.
This season, Tiana Okoye is set to join the cast as John’s sibling, Dollface. Additionally, Lisa Gilroy will portray Vermin, Patty Guggenheim takes on the role of Raven, Saylor Bell Curda steps into Mayhem, and Richard de Klerk assumes the character of Mr. Grimm.
Twisted Metal Season 2 will premiere on Peacock on July 31.
