Triple-i Initiative is back with an indie game showcase this April

As a devoted supporter, I’m thrilled to share that The Triple-i Initiative, spotlighting indie gaming wonders, has revealed the date for their yearly spectacle. Just like last year, it’s set for April 10th! This marks the second annual showcase since its inception last year. Backed by a host of successful independent developers such as those behind Darkest Dungeon, Risk of Rain 2, Slay the Spire, Vampire Survivors, V Rising, and many more, this event promises to be exciting! The official announcement on social media hints at approximately 30 video game announcements throughout the 45-minute presentation.

The Triple-i Initiative is back with a new showcase scheduled for April 10th

As a gamer, last year’s event kicked off with an exciting unveiling of Slay the Spire 2 that made it a must-watch. Other standout moments included the announcement of The Rogue Prince of Persia and significant updates for games like Palworld, Vampire Survivors, Hyper Light Breaker, and Darkest Dungeon 2. This year, I’m hoping to hear more about all these games, whether it’s fresh info on Slay the Spire 2 or new DLC or updates for other games.

One thing that immediately catches my attention is the date: April 10th. In the gaming world, I’ve started to categorize events into ‘before’ and ‘after’ the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, which is scheduled for April 2nd. Although details about Nintendo’s new console are still scarce, given that the Direct is just a week before the Triple-i Initiative, there’s a strong possibility that it could be one of the first significant non-Nintendo events to showcase games that will be available on the upcoming handheld device. Since the Switch has been a fantastic platform for indie titles, this would be an excellent way to commence new releases.

The Triple-i Initiative unveiled an image in their announcement video on social media, featuring all the participants for their upcoming presentation. This is our first glimpse into what we can anticipate from this event. One of the notable additions to the lineup is Kepler Interactive, who are publishing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, an upcoming RPG. Sifu’s creators, Sloclap, seem set to reveal more about their forthcoming action soccer game ReMatch. Additionally, OuterSloth – a division of Among Us developer Innersloth – is expected to participate, possibly presenting a sneak peek at Project Dosa, the next title from the team behind Thirsty Suitors.

Playstack, the company responsible for Balatro, might be introducing additional themed decks or other surprises related to it. Similarly, Hooded Horse, the publisher of Manor Lords, could provide updates on that game. Thunder Lotus Games may offer insights into the progress of 33 Immortals, a game they released in Early Access which I’ve enjoyed and am eager to learn more about its future developments. Digital Sun’s Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, published by 11 Bit Studios, is also expected to be showcased. Here’s hoping for release dates for some of these upcoming titles!

One independent game I’ve been eagerly waiting to play for quite some time is Tears of Metal, a hack-and-slash roguelike developed by Paper Cult, the same team behind Bloodroots. A sneak peek of gameplay was shown in their announcement video, and since Paper Cult is one of the potential collaborators, I’m optimistic that it might mean a release date isn’t too far off.

As an enthusiast of indie games and exceptional titles alike, I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us at this year’s showcase – last year’s event left me thoroughly impressed, so I’m expecting even more exciting announcements!
