Tribeca Films Acquires ‘The Featherweight,’ ‘Born Hungry’ and Five Other Top Festival Titles

As a seasoned film enthusiast with a knack for discovering hidden gems and a soft spot for independent cinema, I can’t help but feel exhilarated by the latest acquisitions made by Tribeca Films! With their keen eye for talent and commitment to supporting emerging directors, they continue to push the boundaries of cinematic storytelling.

Tribeca Films, a division of Tribeca Enterprises and Giant Pictures, has picked up seven highly-acclaimed films from various festivals for distribution within the U.S., marking their second round of acquisitions since they started in April. The selected titles are “The Featherweight” by Robert Kolodny, “The Graduates” by Hannah Peterson, “Tendaberry” by Haley Elizabeth Anderson, “Born Hungry” by Barry Avrich, “Egghead & Twinkie” by Sarah Kambe Holland, “Wild Goat Surf” by Caitlyn Sponheimer, and “Family Therapy” directed by Sonja Prosenc (depicted).

Tribeca Films has obtained 15 movies from top international film festivals within just a short period of time, reinforcing our commitment to fresh talent and independent films. We’re thrilled to present this fresh collection to a broader public, with two narratives that made their debut at the Tribeca Festival – ‘The Graduates,’ directed by Hannah Peterson, and ‘Family Therapy,’ helmed by Sonja Prosenc,” remarked Jane Rosenthal, co-founder and CEO of Tribeca Enterprises.

Among the seven films (“The Graduates,” “Egghead & Twinkie,” “Wild Goat Surf,” “Tendaberry” and “The Featherweight”), five are being directed by filmmakers for the very first time. These movies secured their distribution deals after being showcased at various film festivals, including Tribeca, Venice, Sundance, Toronto, Palm Springs, and Vancouver.

Tribeca intends to make its entire collection available for streaming on popular platforms such as Kanopy, Kinema, Fandango Now, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube Movies, Comcast Xfinity On Demand, DirecTV, The Roku Channel, Tubi, Pluto TV, Sling TV, Peacock, Plex, XUMO, and its own Tribeca Channel.

Acquisitions Manager Shayna Weingast negotiated the deals on behalf of Tribeca Films.
