Tribeca Festival’s 2025 Television Lineup Features ‘We Were Liars,’ ‘Smoke’ and ‘The Gilded Age,’ Plus Conversation With Lena Dunham

The lineup for the TV segment at the Tribeca Festival in 2025 features the Prime Video adaptation of the book “We Were Liars,” the third season of “The Gilded Age,” and the Mandy Patinkin comedy titled “Seasoned.” Additionally, a dialogue with Lena Dunham is scheduled.

From June 4th to 15th, the festival taking place in New York City will exhibit a diverse range of narrative, documentary, and animated films. This television event features a blend of first-time premieres, recurring series, and independent productions. Numerous screenings will be followed by on-stage discussions.

In a statement, Cara Cusumano, director and senior vice president of programming for Tribeca Festival, expressed pride in being a home for innovative minds reshaping the narrative landscape of television. She emphasized that Tribeca TV is a vital part of their festival, serving as a crucial meeting point where creativity, artistic expression, and audience engagement intersect. As the boundaries between film and TV become increasingly blurred, Tribeca’s dedication to showcasing exceptional tales in various formats remains unwavering.

In addition to “We Were Liars,” other debut series include “Smoke,” a drama on Apple TV+ starring Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett, “The Furry Detectives: Unmasking A Monster,” a SundanceTV docuseries delving into the darker aspects of furries, and “Outrageous” on BritBox, which focuses on the lives of the Mitford sisters.

In addition to the revival of “The Gilded Age,” viewers can also look forward to the premiere of Season 3 for “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” and the conclusion of Season 4 featuring Forest Whitaker in “Godfather of Harlem.

The upcoming lineup for Now showcases several independent series and pilots: “Seasoned,” which delves into the relationship between Mandy Patinkin and Kathryn Grody, “Hal & Harper,” a dramatic production featuring Mark Ruffalo, Betty Gilpin, and Lili Reinhart, “The Price of Milk,” an exploration of the background of the ‘Got Milk’ campaign, and “Earth to Percy,” a tale about an astronaut who is inadvertently left out of his crew’s social gatherings.

Furthermore, Lena Dunham is set to participate in the festival, engaging in a discussion about her forthcoming Netflix series titled “Too Much.” This production features Megan Stalter, Will Sharpe, Rita Wilson, Andrew Rannells, Andrew Scott, among others.
