As a cinephile with a penchant for intellectually stimulating content and a soft spot for game shows, I must say that I am quite intrigued by Prime Video’s latest offering, “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” The trailer has piqued my curiosity, and the concept of ordinary contestants relying on a star-studded classroom to answer elementary questions is both fresh and engaging.
Amazon’s Prime Video unveiled the trailer for its upcoming game show titled “Are You Smarter Than a Star?” The show is fronted by NFL player Travis Kelce from Kansas City Chiefs and will make its debut on the streaming platform on October 16, with three initial episodes. A fresh episode will be added every week thereafter.
In the game show “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?”, an exciting and fresh take on the classic format, each episode invites an adult contestant to tackle eleven questions spanning various subjects from elementary school curriculum for a chance to win $100,000. The contestants don’t compete against the famous faces; instead, they enlist their help, sometimes even copying them in certain cases. In crucial moments, the contestant can also seek advice from one celebrity before making their final answer on the $100,000 question, which is always designed for a 6th-grade level student. This show’s tagline sums it up: the aim isn’t to outsmart the stars, but to learn from them as you test your own knowledge!
The show is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video’s “Winning Wednesdays” schedule, sharing the spotlight with other shows such as “Buy It Now,” “Wish List Games,” and “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” in their programming lineup.
The program will present a classroom filled with well-known personalities, including comedians Nikki Glaser, Natasha Leggero, Nicole Byer, and Ron Funches; NFL analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick; former NFL player Chad Ochocinco; “Real Housewife of Beverly Hills” star Garcelle Beauvais; actress from “Vanderpump Rules”, Lala Kent; podcaster Sophia Stallone; and actress, producer, and YouTube sensation Lilly Singh.
Wes Kauble, along with Mark Burnett, will take on the roles of executive producers for this series. Additionally, Sean Kelly, Steve Hughes, Susan Janis-Mashayehi, Tamara Akins, and Jessie Binkow will serve as co-executive producers. It is also worth noting that Wes Kauble will also be responsible for overseeing the show as its showrunner.
