As a die-hard Transformers fan with years of nostalgia etched into my memory banks, I can’t contain my excitement about the upcoming premiere of “Transformers One”! Being the first movie to leverage Barco’s new “HDR By Barco” laser projectors, it promises an unparalleled visual experience that will undoubtedly transport us back to Cybertron in a way we’ve never seen before.
The “Transformers One” film produced by Paramount Animation and Hasbro Entertainment will be the inaugural movie to premiere on Barco’s latest “HDR By Barco” laser projectors, marking the start of a preliminary program for Barco’s new HDR-compatible premium line of cinema systems. This is an exciting development for the Belgian technology company, Barco.
Beginning September 20, when “Transformers One” is released nationwide in the U.S., select HDR By Barco cinema auditoriums will screen a high-definition version of the film in partnership with AMC Theatres, B&B Theatres, and Regal Cinemas. This exceptional presentation will be available at five recently upgraded cinemas: AMC Americana at Brand 18 (Glendale), AMC Barrywoods 24 (Kansas City), B&B Theatres Red Oak 12 (Dallas), Regal Dania Pointe (Miami-Ft. Lauderdale), and Regal Times Square (New York).
The initiative, initially revealed during CinemaCon in April, will continue through the remainder of this year, preceding the commercial debut of HDR by Barco, scheduled for 2025. Further films to be included in the program have yet to be disclosed.
Under the guidance of Academy Award-winning director Josh Cooley, “Transformers One” is an artistic account of its origins, taking place on the planet Cybertron (with animation courtesy of Industrial Light & Magic). This film intertwines high-octane action with a narrative centered around the characters of a young Optimus Prime, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth, and young Megatron, voiced by Brian Tyree Henry. Initially, they were inseparable friends; however, their bond eventually turns into a deadly rivalry.
“Gerwin Damberg, Barco Cinema’s executive vice president, announced with excitement that HDR by Barco will debut in North America this fall. This technology enhances movies on screen with vivid, lively visuals, creating a visually captivating experience for viewers. We appreciate the backing of our studio partners like Paramount who share our love for cinema and commitment to providing exceptional movie-going experiences.”
