Transformers One Star Has A Perfect Reference Point For Bumblebee's Origin

As a diehard Transformers fan who has grown up with these iconic characters, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming movie “Transformers One.” The prospect of witnessing Orion Pax and D-16’s transformation into Optimus Prime and Megatron, respectively, is simply mind-blowing.

In just about a month, the upcoming Transformers film will be making its theater debut as the first animated installment since the 1986 feature. Star-studded voices include Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Keegan-Michael Key, Scarlett Johansson, and others, who bring to life the legendary characters. Notably, Hemsworth and Henry voice Orion Pax and D-16, respectively, before they became Optimus Prime and Megatron in their earlier forms.

Paramount shared a brief behind-the-scenes video, featuring cast members discussing their characters and highlighting key distinctions between these roles and their previous portrayals.

“What caught my attention was the backstory,” Hemsworth mentions, “and getting to voice Optimus Prime takes it up a notch. He starts off as Orion Pax, a miner, and this is his transformation into the mighty, wise Optimus Prime. This movie boasts an exceptional cast…it was really enjoyable.” Both Hemsworth and Henry admit that the narrative centers around the developing bond and eventual conflict between their characters.

In the past films, he resembled a silent film actor without dialog, but this time around, we’re thrilled to give him a speaking role.

In their appreciation, Key and Henry laud Johansson for creating a resilient and powerful Elita-1. Transformers enthusiasts may recognize Elita, or Flareup, as the elder sibling to Arcee and Chromia. Additionally, there are short appearances by Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime and Lawrence Fishburne as Alpha Trion.

Transformers One arrives in theaters on September 20.
