A young teenager, aged 13, residing in Southern California, was tragically discovered deceased in his bedroom, suspected to have taken part in the ‘blackout challenge’ on social media.
13-year-old Nnamdi Ohaeri, Jr., affectionately called ‘Deuce’ by loved ones, tragically passed away on the morning of February 3, as discovered by his family members.
Although he had spent the previous night enjoying the Grammy awards with his family, where Kendrick Lamar won every category, Deuce’s parents suspect that he participated in a social media challenge just before going to bed.
At first, it seemed like the boy had taken his own life, but his parents were certain he was excited about the future. Determined to uncover the truth, they started asking questions to friends and loved ones. It wasn’t long before they found out that Deuce might have been participating in a trend that can make people lose consciousness.

Just as with the ‘pass-out game,’ where individuals intentionally try to faint by holding their breath too long, it seemed like Deuce had unintentionally lost consciousness following his experiment.
The next morning, when the parents discovered their 13-year-old son unconscious in his room, his mother administered CPR and his father asked for assistance from nearby neighbors.
Deuce’s parents reveal he didn’t have access to social media on his phone
After Deuce passed away, his parents confessed feeling profound regret, unsure if they may have been overly restrictive with the social media guidelines they set for him, given that he had strong parental restrictions on his mobile device.
Deuce’s father often emphasizes the importance of being aware of influences and encouraging “Stay away from drugs and make smart choices.” However, they might want to discuss the potential risks of blindly following social media trends and spending too much time on social media games, which could also be beneficial.
