As a cinephile who’s been around the block a few times, I must say that Adrianna Mitchell‘s casting in “Crutch” has me genuinely excited! With her diverse television background and recent Broadway debut, she’s proven her versatility and acting chops. Her character, Jamilah, seems like a fascinating role with plenty of room for depth and humor, which I can’t wait to see unfold.
It’s been announced that Adrianna Mitchell will star in the forthcoming comedic series “Crutch,” featuring Tracy Morgan, on Paramount+ – a fact that EbMaster has uncovered exclusively.
Mitchell has become the newest member of the cast for the series, joining Jermaine Fowler who was recently announced. The show, originally revealed in May with Morgan taking the lead role, is rumored to take place within the same universe as the CBS comedy “The Neighborhood.” Filming will commence this month in New York City.
“Francois ‘Frank’ Crutchfield, affectionately known as ‘Crutch,’ runs a popular shop in Harlem. He’s bold and well-liked, but his peaceful life is disrupted when his intellectual son (Fowler) and free-spirited daughter (Mitchell) return to live with him.
Jamilah, Mitchell’s character, is a free-spirited woman with a natural hairstyle, known for her dry humor and biting remarks. She has a reputation for being inconsistent, but the one constant in her life was her 10-year marriage and the comfortable suburban existence she created for her husband and their two children in Minneapolis’s outskirts. However, as this begins to crumble, Jamilah and her children Lisa, 12, and Mase, 9, find themselves back at Crutch’s doorstep in Harlem.
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’ve had the privilege to witness the captivating talent of actress Aisha Mitchell on various screens and stages. Most notably, she has shone brightly as Tanosse in the acclaimed FX series “Snowfall.” Her versatility is evident through her roles in other critically-acclaimed shows such as “Evil,” “The Good Fight,” “Little America,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” Recently, I was mesmerized by her Broadway debut in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Fat Ham,” where she brought the character Opal to life.
She is repped by Artists & Representatives and Wright Entertainment, Inc.
The TV show ‘Crutch’ was created by Owen Smith, who takes on the roles of executive producer and showrunner. Cedric the Entertainer is another executive producer, alongside Eric C. Rhone, under their A Bird and a Bear Entertainment label. Morgan will not only star in the series but also serve as an executive producer. Aaron Kaplan from Kapital Entertainment and Wendi Trilling from TrillTV are additional executive producers. CBS Studios handles production, while Paramount Global Content Distribution distributes the series.
