CBS is bringing back an actor from Season 2 for Season 3, following some changes to the show’s cast. Colter Shaw will be teaming up with a familiar and reliable friend in the new episodes.
CBS’s Tracker is currently the network’s most popular show of the 2025-2026 season, and they’re working hard to maintain its success. Before the mid-season finale on December 14th, the series will feature the return of Keaton, played by Brent Sexton, a key ally of the main character, Colter. This reunion will be highlighted in a new promo for Season 3, Episode 9, titled “Good Trouble.”
I first noticed Sexton in Season 2, Episode 6 of Tracker, titled “Trust Fall,” and he quickly became a memorable part of the show. He popped up in two more episodes after that, with his last appearance being in Season 2, Episode 9. The storyline cleverly introduced him through one of Colter’s missions, where he actually helped Colter crack a case. But the writers didn’t just use him for that one thing; they kept him around, and the season finale definitely hinted at a possible return for the character, which I’m hoping to see!
TV Pulse Magazine just gave fans a sneak peek at the next episode, which will be the last one before the show takes a break for the holidays. Here’s what it’s about: Colter’s friend Keaton needs help finding a missing partner, and their search leads them to a series of bodies and a much larger conspiracy than they expected.
Jeff T. Thomas directed this episode, having also directed “First Fire” (Episode 3). The script was written by Elwood Reid and Sharon Lee Watson.
I’ve always loved that Colter usually handles things on his own, but it’s been tough for the show to introduce characters who can really keep up with him – he’s always on the move! But after seeing how well he and Keaton worked together in Season 2, CBS really made it happen and brought Keaton back. It’s great to see them team up again.
Keaton’s return is a welcome boost for the show, especially after Tracker lost several important cast members. Following Robin Weigert’s departure after season one, Sexton was brought in. More recently, the show said goodbye to Abby McEnany and Eric Graise, who played Velma and Bobby, and then added new actors to fill those roles.
Tracker Season 3 Will Experience Another Change
Since it first aired in 2022, Tracker has consistently attracted viewers for CBS, likely helped by its Sunday timeslot. However, CBS is planning some changes after a short break. When the show returns, it will still air on Sundays, but…
Currently, Tracker airs new episodes on Sundays at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. However, when the show returns on March 1, 2026, it will air from 9 to 10 p.m. Eastern Time.
Tracker releases new episodes every Sunday on CBS before its mid-season finale on Dec. 14.
