Tracker Is Challenging Taylor Sheridan’s Newest Western in a Streaming War

Justin Hartley’s new crime drama is surprisingly challenging Taylor Sheridan’s dominance in the streaming world, becoming a strong competitor to the Yellowstone universe on Paramount+.

According to FlixPatrol, the TV show Tracker recently climbed three spots on Paramount+’s U.S. Top 10 list, moving from sixth to third place on March 11th. This put it ahead of South Park, which had briefly returned to number one. Since South Park isn’t currently releasing new episodes, it’s expected to drop in the rankings, potentially leading to a close competition between Tracker and Marshals. Both shows release new episodes on the same days, but early data suggests Tracker may ultimately perform better.

Justin Hartley’s Tracker Sees an Impressive Chart Jump in the U.S.

Tracker had a quick surge in popularity on March 11, jumping up three spots, but quickly fell six spots the next day to land at number nine on March 12. Marshals also saw a decline, dropping two spots to third place, behind both South Park and NCIS.

Sheridan’s shows are popular around the world, currently ranking in the top charts of over 25 countries. While it’s number one in the U.S., that’s the only country where it currently holds the top position. Generally, Sheridan’s various series continue to be hugely successful on Paramount+ internationally.

I’m not surprised South Park is still number one on Paramount+ globally – it’s a classic! But what really strikes me is how dominant Taylor Sheridan’s shows are. Four of his series are in the top five! Yellowstone is holding strong at number three, and 1883 and Tulsa King are right behind it. Lawmen: Bass Reeves is doing okay at number seven, but it’s a bit disappointing that Tracker isn’t showing up on the charts at all. It really shows how much of an impact Sheridan has on what people are watching right now.

The new series Marshals premiered on March 1st as both a continuation and spin-off of Yellowstone, featuring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton joining a team of U.S. Marshals dedicated to protecting Montana. Tracker also recently premiered, debuting in October 2025. Both shows will continue to release new episodes throughout the month, with each series airing new installments on Sundays.

Yellowstone Fans are Disappointed with Franchise’s New Sequel

I’ve been following the streaming numbers, and even though Marshals is probably going to win in terms of how many people watch, something’s definitely off. Everyone – critics and fans alike – really isn’t loving this new show from Taylor Sheridan. It’s getting pretty bad reviews, with only a 32% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes – the critics aren’t much kinder at 47%. It’s a stark contrast to Tracker Season 3, which is doing incredibly well with an 81% audience score!

Many reviewers pointed to a lack of involvement from the original creator as a key reason why the new series didn’t measure up. While the hit show Yellowstone‘s creator wasn’t actively involved in the sequel, Marshals, it was developed by Spencer Hudnut and featured characters fans loved from the original. Critics at Rotten Tomatoes generally described Marshals as a lackluster crime show that didn’t have the compelling story or mystery that made Yellowstone so popular right away.

Both Tracker and Marshals are now streaming on Paramount+.
