Tony Hinchliffe reveals Kill Tony episode with Shane Gillis as Trump set YouTube record

As a dedicated follower of comedy podcasts, I must say that Tony Hinchliffe’s ‘Kill Tony’ has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride of laughter and surprise. With its unique format that gives a platform to up-and-coming comedians and the occasional appearance from comedy legends, it’s become a staple in the comedy world.

According to Tony Hinchliffe, the comedy podcast ‘Kill Tony’ broke a YouTube record during its groundbreaking episode in which Shane Gillis portrayed Donald Trump and Adam Ray played Joe Biden.

Kill Tony, renowned as one of the best comedy podcasts globally, offers a platform for aspiring comics to display their talents by performing brief one-minute stand-up routines.

This program often invites several well-known comedians, famous personalities, and stars like Joe Rogan, UFC star Sean O’Malley, Post Malone, Matt Rife, and Tucker Carlson – to mention just a few examples – as special guests.

On the 15th of July, the podcast aired its highest viewed episode to date (KT 672). During this show, Shane Gillis portrayed Donald Trump, while Adam Ray depicted Joe Biden. Remaining in character, both actors maintained their impressions throughout the program.

Ever since I posted it, views have soared past 20 million, and as per Hinchliffe, it not only smashed the YouTube view count record but also shattered one held by Netflix!

On the Duncan Trussell Family Hour podcast, Hinchliffe shared that The Roast of Tom Brady held the record as the most-viewed show ever on Netflix, tallying up an impressive 1.5 billion total viewing hours.

In stark contrast, the Kill Tony episode featuring Gillis as Trump and Ray as Biden outperformed previous episodes significantly, racking up an impressive 2.5 billion minutes of viewership.

As a gamer, I can proudly say that my video on YouTube is renowned for its exceptional viewer retention. It seems that once people start watching, they either pick up from where they left off yesterday or end up finishing the entire video – quite an engaging experience, wouldn’t you agree?

People viewed it multiple times, some even three times. YouTube limits the number of views per video to prevent misuse. Instead, they track the total minutes watched. That’s quite significant,” Tony pointed out. “Therefore, the most popular comedy show of this year was produced just nearby at the Comedy Mothership.

It’s worth noting that a significant contributor to the episode’s success was Adam Ray’s impression of Biden. Interestingly, he also has another well-known act which he will be showcasing on Netflix in November.

On November 19th, Ray is set to debut his Dr. Phil impersonation on a streaming platform, featuring a complete stand-up comedy special. During this show, he’ll engage in an interview with the actual Dr. Phil.

Let’s find out whether this event will surpass the viewership of Kill Tony 672 and if it signals a trend for the podcast, given whispers that Hinchliffe’s show might shift to Netflix down the line.
