The upcoming Tomb Raider series on Prime Video is gaining more cast members, with Jason Isaacs – known for his Emmy nomination – joining the project. While details about his character and the overall plot are still under wraps, Deadline has confirmed his involvement.
Jason Isaacs is a well-known actor, famous for playing Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films. He’s also appeared in movies like The Patriot, Black Hawk Down, Peter Pan, and Fury. More recently, he starred in Season 3 of the TV show The White Lotus, a performance that earned him his first Emmy nomination.
Sophie Turner, known for her role in Game of Thrones, will star as Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider TV series. Sigourney Weaver, famous for Avatar, will also appear as a character named Wallace. British actor Martin Bobb-Semple has been cast as a series regular, though his role hasn’t been revealed yet.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the creator of Fleabag, is the driving force behind this new series, handling writing, creation, and executive production. She’s joined by Chad Hodge (known for “Single All the Way” and “Wayward Pines”) who will co-run the show and also serve as an executive producer. Jonathan van Tulleken, the director of “Shogun,” is also on board as an executive producer and director.
Waller-Bridge shared that everyone working on the project is incredibly enthusiastic about the character of Lara Croft, describing the team as bold, funny, and just as adventurous as she is. She playfully warned fans to prepare themselves, because Lara Croft is on her way!
Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander both previously played Lara Croft in movies. Now, Daisy Turner says she’s incredibly excited to take on the role.
At The Game Awards, two new Tomb Raider games were announced. A remake of the original 1996 game, titled Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, is planned for 2026, and a brand new game, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, will follow in 2027. Alix Wilton Regan will be voicing Lara Croft in both games, replacing Camilla Luddington.
