Prime Video has given fans a first glimpse of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider movie. The film is currently being made, and Turner’s costume offers a fresh take on Lara Croft’s iconic look. Taking cues from the original Tomb Raider games, her outfit includes tough shorts, red sunglasses, a turquoise shirt, and her trusty pistols – essential gear for any perilous archaeological adventure.

I’m so excited! It’s official – Taylor Turner is going to be Lara Croft! And the cast around her is incredible – we’re talking Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, and a whole bunch of other amazing actors like Martin Bobb-Semple, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein. It’s been a great week for TV news because Prime Video also announced Ryan Hurst from Sons of Anarchy will be playing Kratos in their live-action God of War series! I can’t wait to see both of these shows.
Taylor Turner has been intensely preparing to play Lara Croft, training up to eight hours a day, five days a week, since February 2025. In addition to physical training, she’s been studying the original Tomb Raider games and comics. To ensure she brings a fresh take to the role, she’s deliberately avoided watching the Angelina Jolie films.
Tomb Raider fans have two new games to look forward to! A remake of the original 1996 game, titled Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, will be released later this year. Then, in 2027, Lara Croft will star in a completely new adventure called Tomb Raider: Catalyst. Alix Wilton Regan will be voicing Lara Croft in both games, taking over the role from Camilla Luddington.
