Tom Holland, known for playing Spider-Man, has been thinking about who could take on the role next and believes Owen Cooper, who recently starred in ‘Adolescence,’ would be a great fit.
Tom Holland became Spider-Man when he was just 18 years old. He first appeared as the character briefly in Captain America: Civil War, and later starred as a teenage Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
After those first films, he appeared in several Avengers movies and had two sequels – Far From Home and No Way Home. His latest solo movie, Brand New Day, comes out at the end of July, and it might be his last.
Holland has been playing Spider-Man for twelve years and is now starting to think about who will take over the role next, with one actor already being considered.
Tom Holland believes Owen Cooper would be an “awesome” Spider-Man
Tom Holland recently told Esquire that if he were to stop playing Spider-Man, he knows exactly which actor he’d like to see take over the role of Peter Parker.
“Owen Cooper would be awesome. Obviously he’s super-talented and the talk of the town right now.”
Cooper first gained recognition for his role as a murder suspect in the popular Netflix series Adolescence. This performance earned him major awards – an Emmy, Golden Globe, and BAFTA. He’s since appeared in Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights and is currently working on Tom Ford’s new film, Cry to Heaven.
Tom Holland thinks starring as Spider-Man will significantly boost his career. He also expressed interest in continuing with the franchise behind the scenes, potentially as a producer or by mentoring future actors.
Just as Robert Downey Jr. guided me when I started out with my first few films, I hope to do the same for the next actor taking on the role.
