Tom Felton Makes History Returning as Draco in Harry Potter Stage Show

Tom Felton, for a decade, captivated audiences as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter series, playing the loathed Hogwarts student that everyone adored. Fourteen years since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 concluded in 2011, he’s poised to create history by being the initial cast member to reprise their role in the highly successful Broadway adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

This morning on Today, Felton announced his return to the role of Draco Malfoy for a period of 19 weeks starting this September in New York City. He described it as feeling like a dream, and he can’t believe it’s real. Felton played the sly Slytherin house member for a decade across eight films in the Harry Potter series, and this stage play appearance represents a significant milestone for him. “Getting to meet Draco as an adult is incredibly exciting,” he said, also mentioning that donning the blonde wig was more emotional than he anticipated.

The return of her blonde hair triggered an unexpected outburst of tears. This style played a significant role in my past, reminding me of my teenage years. It feels like stepping back into high school again. I’m thrilled to announce this change, as I’ve been carefully concealing it for quite some time.

In the narrative penned by Jack Thorne, titled “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child“, unfolds nearly twenty years after the occurrences in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows“. At this juncture, Harry is a father of three, holding the position as the overburdened head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic. Simultaneously, Draco Malfoy grapples with grief over the loss of his spouse and whispers of speculation that his only son, Scorpius, may be a descendant of Voldemort. The tale predominantly focuses on Harry’s second offspring, Albus Severus Potter, as he embarks on his Hogwarts journey, finds himself in Slytherin, and grapples with the burden of his father’s historical footprint.
