Tom Cruise Says ‘I Don’t Want to Be’ the Last Movie Star: ‘There’s So Many Other Talented Actors’ Like Michael B. Jordan. ‘I Want to See Them Crush It’

At the New York City premiere of “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning”, Entertainment Tonight had a chat with Tom Cruise, who declined to be called the “last movie star”. Despite widespread belief that he is the only genuine movie star due to his dedication to big-screen productions and global box office success, Cruise himself doesn’t seem ready to concede

As a movie enthusiast, I’m always rooting for the underdog – “I’d rather not be,” I admitted. “The stage is filled with an abundance of remarkable acting talents, and I can’t wait to witness them shine.

Example given by Cruise is Michael B. Jordan, who collaborated with director Ryan Coogler to make the R-rated vampire film “Sinners” a massive success at the domestic box office with earnings exceeding $240 million and still growing. In April, Cruise shared a picture of himself attending a screening of “Sinners”. Later, Jordan appeared at the premiere of the latest “Mission: Impossible” movie in London.

He’s one of my favorite people, and I absolutely loved the movie ‘Sinners’. In fact, we’ve got plans to collaborate on another project together.

In a recent conversation with People, Cruise shared his admiration for Jordan, explaining: “He’s deeply committed to his brand, and I truly appreciate him. I have great respect for Coogler, and I adore that movie. The films they produce are extraordinary, capturing the essence of ‘big cinema.’ I am always inspired by their work and enjoy witnessing their success. It’s important to me to help others prosper, and I strive to do just that. Filmmakers, actors – my door is always open for them, so I’m thrilled about what they’re working on and find it consistently motivating.

Cruise shared with ET that this upcoming summer promises to be fantastic for movies. We have the ‘John Wick’ series starring Keanu Reeves and Ana de Armas, as well as Brad Pitt’s ‘F1’. I can’t wait for everyone to enjoy a wonderful summer at the cinema.

It’s open to interpretation whether Tom Cruise is the last true movie star, as that’s what Sean Penn suggested in a recent statement that caused quite a stir online. Penn commented, “It seems like the machine for producing movie stars ran out around Jennifer Lawrence’s time, or so. She might be the last movie star.” Interestingly, Penn also gave high praise to Cruise in his remarks.

Tom Cruise is not just a great actor, but an exceptional artist as well, according to Penn. His movies may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they wouldn’t reach such high levels without someone extraordinary driving them. Cruise is often the key player behind these films. It’s no coincidence. He performs his own stunts and might just be the best stuntman in the movie industry. He has vast experience.

“Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” opens in theaters May 23.
