Tom Cruise’s latest film, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” has set a new franchise benchmark at the box office, and he expressed his gratitude for this success in a touching letter shared on his social media platforms. The impressive opening earnings of this movie, along with those from Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch” and Paramount’s original “Mission: Impossible,” collectively shattered the four-day Memorial Day weekend earnings record.
This weekend was extraordinary and worthy of being remembered!,” wrote Cruise in his message. “A round of applause and gratitude go out to each filmmaker, artist, crew member, and studio worker.
To every cinema and its staff who help share these stories with the public, a big thank you.
To everyone at Paramount Pictures and Skydance who’ve been our partners for so many years, I want to express my gratitude for your steadfast support,” the actor said next. “And above all, a heartfelt THANK YOU to audiences around the world – we create for you, and we do it because we truly enjoy entertaining you. Warmly, Tom.
In the domestic market, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” made a record-breaking $63 million during its three-day run and an estimated $77 million throughout the extended holiday period. This eighth film in Tom Cruise’s ongoing action series just barely surpassed 2018’s “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” ($61 million) to achieve the highest opening weekend of the 29-year-old franchise.
Chris Aronson, head of distribution at Paramount, commented that the eighth installment of ‘Mission’ had a stunning debut. This achievement underscores the enduring popularity of the franchise. The extraordinary visual extravaganza created by Tom and McQ for the screen is virtually unmatched in today’s film industry.
Tom Cruise kicked off a world-wide media tour to publicize “Mission: Impossible – The Last Call” before its premiere. This film boasts an enormous $400 million production cost, placing it among the priciest movies ever created. During his press appearances, he avoided confirming whether “The Last Call” is his final “Mission: Impossible” movie, despite speculation leading up to the blockbuster’s release.
The actor expressed, “I prefer everyone to experience it and take pleasure in it, as we’ve had a fantastic journey creating it and it’s been quite enjoyable. I hope you all can enjoy it too, knowing that everything has led up to this very moment.
“Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” is playing in theaters nationwide from Paramount.
