I’m already getting excited! The Tokyo Game Show is coming back in late September 2025, and it’s always a huge event. It’s where all the big Japanese game companies show off what they’ve been working on, and we usually get a ton of news about upcoming JRPGs – including new games in series we already love!
Now that the pandemic is easing, publishers are starting to prioritize in-person events like demo booths and stage shows again. But they’re also making these events accessible online with live streams, so people around the world can tune in. Some streams will even happen before or after the main event.
We’ve gathered nearly all the RPGs we cover. However, we’ve realized something’s still missing – a key element is needed to complete the picture.
Will there be a new State of Play before TGS 2025?
Nintendo’s recent Direct presentation gave us a sneak peek at upcoming games, but as of this weekend before the Tokyo Game Show, Sega and Koei Tecmo haven’t fully revealed what they’re planning to showcase.
Sega has a plan for where they’ll announce most of their news, which we’ll cover shortly. However, Koei Tecmo’s upcoming game is a bit of a mystery. The most likely way we’ll see it revealed before the Tokyo Game Show is through a Sony State of Play presentation.
Last year, Sony held a State of Play presentation on the Tuesday before the Tokyo Game Show in September 2024. Although Sony hasn’t made any official announcements yet, we anticipate another State of Play around the same time this year.

Sega – Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Summit & Direct
We’ve previously mentioned that Sega still has some unannounced games planned for Tokyo Game Show 2025. This is especially noticeable in their merchandise list, where the *Like A Dragon/Yakuza* series has several empty slots. All attention will be on the *Ryu Ga Gotoku Summit and Direct 2025* streams, which begin at *12:00 JST* (03:00 UTC).
Although one game title might already be known, Sega still needs to announce three more games, likely during the upcoming State of Play presentation or in their RGG streams.
Capcom – TGS 2025 Official Program
Capcom usually presents its Tokyo Game Show program on Thursdays, but this year it will be on Wednesday. Although the stream will happen before the official start of TGS, it’s still considered part of the show’s official schedule. The presentation is expected to begin at the same time as in previous years: 23:00 JST (14:00 UTC).
The presentation will highlight several games, including Monster Hunter Wilds, Monster Hunter Stories 3, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Pragmata, and the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection. We’ll also get a closer look at new content coming to the fighting game, Street Fighter 6.
Thursday, September 25
Bandai Namco – Code Vein II
Bandai Namco has been charting its own course at recent Tokyo Game Show events. This year, they’re kicking things off early with a broadcast about *Code Vein II* at 8:00 AM Japan Standard Time (Tuesday, 11:00 PM UTC). This program will actually air *before* the official start of TGS, as the opening ceremony isn’t until 9:30 AM JST.
Netmarble – The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin and Mongil
Netmarble plans to host its own events at TGS 2025. Throughout the four-day event, they’ll showcase both *The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin* and *Mongil: Star Dive*, with live streams available on their website.
The biggest news will focus on The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin. Be sure to tune in for a news update at 10:45 AM Japan time (1:45 AM UTC) and a major production announcement at 1:00 PM Japan time (4:00 AM UTC).
Microsoft – Xbox TGS 2025 Broadcast
Microsoft’s Xbox presentation will be officially part of the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) program again in 2025, unlike Nintendo and Sony. It will kick off the prime-time streams at 7:00 PM Japan Standard Time (10:00 AM UTC).
Based on past Xbox presentations, we can expect announcements from Japanese game publishers, similar to the reveal of Persona 4 Golden at the June event.
Koei Tecmo – Nioh 3 Official Program
Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja will showcase Nioh 3 as the second presentation in the primetime lineup at 8:00 PM Japan Standard Time (11:00 AM UTC).

Square Enix – Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake

Friday, September 26
Koei Tecmo – Nioh 3 and Atelier series
While Friday might have fewer events overall (besides the regular daily streams from Netmarble), Koei Tecmo is also hosting their own series of streams that day, ensuring fans have plenty to watch.
We’ll be showcasing more of *Nioh 3* with another event at 20:10 JST (11:10 UTC). This event will be shorter than our recent main show – around 30 minutes – and will focus on sharing gameplay tips using the demo build from the Tokyo Game Show.
Right after the stream, the *Atelier* series will begin at 8:45 PM JST (11:45 AM UTC). This will feature content about *Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian* and the *Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack*.
Saturday, September 27
Capcom – Pragmata: Monster Hunter
Capcom’s booth presentations begin on Saturday and will also be streamed live online.
We’ll be showcasing three games one after another. First, we have *Pragmata* at 10:30 JST (01:30 UTC), followed by the *Monster Hunter Wilds* and *Final Fantasy XIV* crossover at 11:40 JST (02:40 UTC), and finally *Monster Hunter Stories 3* at 13:00 JST (04:00 UTC).

Konami – Suikoden: Star Leap and Suikoden II Anime
The Suikoden I&II HD Remaster is available now, and Konami is continuing to support the Suikoden RPG series with a dedicated stage show scheduled for 12:00 JST (3:00 UTC).
This event will feature everything related to the Suikoden universe, including the new mobile game *Suikoden: Star Leap*, the upcoming anime series based on *Suikoden II*, a live stage play inspired by the original *Suikoden I*, and an art exhibit celebrating both *Suikoden I* and *Suikoden II*.
Konami’s channel will also feature short, live concerts of the Falcom jdk Band playing music from *Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter*. The first concert will be held at 4:00 PM JST (7:00 AM UTC), with a repeat performance on Sunday at 3:30 PM JST (6:30 AM UTC).
Sony – Nioh 3 and Onimusha
Sony will once again have a presence at Tokyo Game Show 2025, featuring a PlayStation booth and live gameplay demonstrations for attendees.
We’ll be showing two of these games on Saturday, one right after the other! The *Nioh 3* stream starts at 14:20 JST (05:20 UTC), and immediately after that, we’ll begin the *Onimusha: Way of the Sword* stream at 16:00 JST (07:00 UTC).
Sunday, September 28
Square Enix – FF Tactics and FFXIV
Square Enix’s streams begin on Sunday at 10:00 AM JST (1:00 AM UTC) with a pre-recorded Final Fantasy Trading Card Game program. Capcom – Mega Man Star Force and Onimusha
Capcom’s stream starts at 10:15 AM JST (1:15 AM UTC) with Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection. After that, they’ll showcase Onimusha: Way of the Sword at 11:30 AM JST (2:30 AM UTC), and finally, Monster Hunter Now at 12:50 PM JST (3:50 AM UTC).
2K – Borderlands 4
2K will be showcasing Borderlands 4 at a live stream during TGS 2025. The stream is scheduled for 11:30 AM Japan Standard Time (JST), which is 2:30 AM UTC.
PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct
As a PC gaming fan, I’m really excited to hear there’s one more big stream coming this year: the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct! From what I’ve heard, they’re planning a ton of world premieres, showing off a bunch of new PC games. It sounds awesome!
There are a couple of things to keep in mind: the broadcast starts at 4:00 PM UTC, which is 1:00 AM on Monday in Japan. This means the in-person Tokyo Game Show event will have already ended by then. Also, while Sega is participating, it’s still unclear if they’ll showcase their role-playing games, or if they’ll focus on other games like Football Manager.
