Today’s NMS Update Introduces Normandy and Cross Save. Get New Ship Before Time Runs Out

As a long-time space explorer and Mass Effect fanatic, I must say, Hello Games has truly outdone themselves this time! The prospect of sailing through the cosmos aboard SSV Normandy SR1, a ship as iconic as Shepard himself, is beyond exciting. It’s been too long since we last had a chance to command this beauty, and I can hardly contain my anticipation.

Recently, Hello Games unveiled an Expedition called “The Cursed,” which included a new vessel, the Boundary Herald, for players to acquire. This unexpected reveal had fans on their toes. Today marks N7 Day, an annual celebration honoring one of the most beloved space genres in gaming – Mass Effect. In collaboration with EA and BioWare, the developers of No Man’s Sky have decided to offer fans a unique opportunity: acquiring the legendary ship from Commander Shepard’s saga – SSV Normandy SR1. While this iconic vessel has appeared before, its last appearance was in 2021, making this occasion quite significant. Additionally, developers announced cross save, a long-awaited feature among players.

How to Get SSV Normandy SR1 in NMS

Just like every distinct ship, you acquire the ‘Normandy’ upon completion of the Expedition. Here, we refer to it as ‘Operation Beachhead’. The new game mode is now active, but be swift since the event will only run for a fortnight – making it time-limited.

Cross Save in NMS and PS5 Pro Gameplay

Normandy is not the only thing which developers from Hello Games prepared for us. One of the big news is a cross save feature. Starting from now, all players can connect different platforms on which they play on a dedicated site. However, it does not mean that the feature is already active for all. The next step is for developers to pick a small group of testers, who will get access to it. If you want to learn more, read developers’ post.

Concurrently, Hello Games studio has unveiled that the upgraded version of NMS on PS5 Pro is now active. It seems this upgrade sneaked in with the previous update, The Cursed, so there’s no need for additional download (although you might want to do so, as Normandy is ready and waiting).
