Toby Huss Takes Over as Dale Gribble in ‘King of the Hill’ Revival – Fans Are Shocked!

Actor Toby Huss will step in as the new voice for the character Dale Gribble, an unlucky pest controller and conspiracy theorist, as “King of the Hill” prepares to return for its 14th season.

Huss has been familiar with the show “King of the Hill” since he lent his voice to Kahn Souphanousinphone and Cotton Hill during its initial broadcast. Now, Huss is stepping into the shoes of Dale, previously voiced by Johnny Hardwick for all 13 seasons on Fox from 1997 to 2009. Tragically, Hardwick passed away in 2023, but before his demise, he recorded six episodes for the upcoming season. Besides being a voice actor, Hardwick also served as a writer and story editor throughout the show’s 258-episode run.

The announcement regarding Huss’ role as Dale was planned for Friday at the ATX TV Festival in Austin. This event will also feature a mix of reunion and revival panel for “King of the Hill”, which includes co-creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, executive producer/showrunner Saladin Patterson, series stars Pamela Adlon (Bobby Hill), Lauren Tom (Connie) and Huss.

For Dale, the description is that he’s “a born skeptic with a penchant for wild theories and intricate, half-formed plans.” Apart from “King of the Hill,” Huss has also appeared on “Seinfeld” and “Halt and Catch Fire.” His film roles span movies like “Copshop,” “Halloween” and an upcoming horror/thriller titled “Weapons.” As a visual artist, his paintings were recently displayed in Los Angeles, while his photography was published as the book “American Sugargristle.

The reboot of “King of the Hill” (which is its Season 14) is set to debut on Monday, August 4th, featuring a total of ten fresh episodes, as announced by the show’s producers on Friday.

As a devoted film enthusiast, let me share the essence of the upcoming season’s storyline: “For years, I toiled away in Saudi Arabia on a propane gig, accumulating our golden years’ savings. Now, Hank and Peggy Hill are back home in Arlen, Texas, a place transformed since we last saw it. Catching up with old pals Dale, Boomhauer, and Bill is on the agenda, but life’s not standing still. Bobby, my boy, is realizing his culinary dreams in Dallas, relishing his 20s alongside Connie, Joseph, and Chane.

For Season 14 of “King of the Hill,” we have Mike Judge, Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Johnny Hardwick, Stephen Root, Lauren Tom, and Toby Huss on board. This animation series from 20th TV is overseen by executive producers such as original co-creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, along with newcomer executive producer and showrunner Saladin Patterson. Michael Rotenberg and Howard Klein of 3 Arts, as well as Dustin Davis from Bandera Entertainment, also serve in executive producer roles.
