Smash Bros dating app reportedly hit with cease & desist
For almost an entire year, gamers anxiously awaited updates about the development of the app, with some even doubting its authenticity. Yet, on May 11, the official account announced that the app would be entering its open beta phase.
They mentioned that the app will become available to the public on May 15th. At the moment, access is limited and restricted to a waiting list, but it’s possible to reserve a spot for the day of release.
In the following day, SmashTogether declared they’d experienced an “extraordinary amount of backing” and surpassed 400 registrants before launch.
Initially, SmashTogether was unable to launch due to a cease and desist letter they received, which was communicated to their fans through an update on the page.
Now is your chance to make it fgc themed and expand 10x

As a gamer, I’m not surprised when Nintendo decides to halt certain projects. However, it’s unfortunate that the competitive Smash Bros community has a well-known past marred by sexual harassment incidents and scandals, which have cast a shadow over the scene.
To date, SmashTogether hasn’t given any more information or evidence that they were ceased by Nintendo. However, fans didn’t find this news unexpected.
It seems like you’re questioning whether the idea of developing a Tinder-like app based on the Smash IP was wise from the start, and if they genuinely believed Nintendo wouldn’t object. This is according to one person’s perspective.
“Of course they did what did you expect was going to happen?” another chimed in.
Let’s wait and determine our next steps regarding SmashTogether, whether it was a genuine project or merely a humorous concept. Regardless, keep in mind that you won’t find a dating app designed specifically for Smash game enthusiasts on the app stores in the near future.
