As a seasoned cinephile who has witnessed the evolution of cinema over decades, I must say that Timothée Chalamet‘s journey in Hollywood is nothing short of inspiring. His resilience and determination to carve his own path in an industry notorious for its rigidity are commendable.

As a budding actor trying out for major film roles, Timothée Chalamet was suggested to add some pounds to his frame.

In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Chalamet shared that if he had auditioned for movies like ‘The Maze Runner’ or ‘Divergent,’ which were popular during his rise to fame, the feedback he received was often about not having the right physical build. His agent advised him to gain weight, although it wasn’t said in a pushy manner.

Timothée Chalamet likened his journey navigating Hollywood to how Bob Dylan struggled in Minnesota at the start of his career. Remarkably, he’ll portray Dylan in the forthcoming music biopic titled “A Complete Unknown.

Chalamet shared that he became deeply involved with these uniquely tailored films. For Dylan, it was the world of folk music. Unfortunately, he couldn’t maintain a rock ‘n’ roll group since they were constantly being poached by other kids who had more financial resources than him, right here in Minnesota.

Rather than striving to transform his physique to secure roles in big-budget movies, Chalamet opted for a more personal approach, choosing films like “Call Me by Your Name,” “Beautiful Boy,” “Lady Bird,” “Little Women,” “Miss Stevens” and “Hot Summer Nights.

Those films had a lower budget, but they were incredibly warm and inviting, which is hard to describe any other way,” Chalamet explained. “It was in this theater where I discovered my stride, my assurance, my groove, if you will.

Without a doubt, Timothée Chalamet eventually secured the lead part in blockbuster films such as “Wonka” and the “Dune” series. In 2023, he appeared in two movies, “Wonka” and “Dune: Part Two,” which each earned over $200 million domestically within an eight-month span, surpassing a box office record that had stood for more than 45 years, which was previously held by John Travolta with “Saturday Night Fever” and “Grease.
