TikToker shocks viewers after cooking live crabs in her air fryer

On TikTok, an user amazed her audience by sharing a video in which she prepared two alive crabs using an air fryer as the cooking method.

On TikTok, with countless videos available, predicting what might become viral can be tricky. It could range from rumors about a restaurant keeping supplies in the restroom, to heated discussions within the BookTok community and various other unexpected topics.

Many users on this app post their cooking videos too, yet a video by ContentwithCee has ignited criticism all over TikTok.

Cee was concocting a recipe for air-frying a crab boil, but accidentally added two live blue crabs to the mixing bowl, causing surprise among the audience.

TikToker was “kinda sad” watching them die

She began her video by suggesting, “Let’s cook a crab in the air fryer.” And she added, “Trust me, give it a go before dismissing it as unconventional.

Cee proceeded to explain different components of the recipe while adding potatoes, corn, seasonings, and additional ingredients into the bowl intended for her air fryer.

Later, she consumed a pair of blue crabs since her air fryer is quite compact and could only handle two. She admitted to feeling quite nervous… in fact, she hopped around because they were still alive,” she shared.

“It was kinda sad watching them (die), but these crabs came out so good and juicy.”

In no time, Cee’s video spread like wildfire online, causing a wave of responses from netizens far and wide, amassing more than 19,000 comments.

One user remarked, “The air fryer doesn’t have a setting for cooking crabs as it would be quite unusual to do so.

Another replied: “Slow cooking an animal alive is a whole new level of animal torture.”

Following Howie the crab, I discovered an incredible amount about their intelligence. Yet, it somehow seems unfair,” a third user commented.

Following nearly a million people joining his TikTok community, Howie the crab’s caretaker, Laura Porter, disclosed that the crustacean had unexpectedly passed away in February 2025.
