Thriller ‘Too Much Love’ and Docuseries ‘SAS: Catching the Criminals’ Lead Keshet International’s Mipcom Slate (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned movie reviewer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Keshet International’s Mipcom slate is nothing short of impressive. The diversity and depth of their offerings this year are truly commendable.

At Mipcom, Keshet International has planned its lineup, featuring standout titles such as the thrilling series “Too Much Love,” the documentary series “SAS: Tracing Criminals,” and the romantic comedy “Mark Your Calendars.”

As a passionate film enthusiast, I’m excited to share that “Too Much Love,” hailing from Slovakian production house Piknik Pictures, is an intriguing eight-episode thriller with a surprising twist. This gripping tale revolves around a man who, after a car accident lands him in the hospital, finds his two wives meeting for the first time. The suspenseful series is slated to make its debut on Slovakian free-to-air broadcaster TV JOJ this September.

The factual series titled “SAS: Catching Criminals” is a 10-part production (format and recording) by Double Act, featuring an ex-leader of the SAS who collaborates with law enforcement agencies in Britain to employ undercover intelligence, monitoring, and disruptive methods against wrongdoers. It will debut on BBC in the U.K. this autumn.

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that “Save the Date,” a delightful romcom, was unveiled exclusively by EbMaster on Wednesday. This charming tale features Tomer Capon and Adi Havshush in the lead roles. Interestingly, Havshush portrays a heartbroken wedding planner who finds herself juggling advances from several admirers, following an unfortunate mishap with an age-old love charm. The film is set to premiere in Israel on September 2nd.

Other captivating Keshet International dramas to explore are “Valhalla Project,” a multilingual series produced by Jari Olavi Rantala, with Sara Soulié (“Conflict”) and Alistair Brammer (“Les Misérables”) in leading roles, and “The 11th Body” (previously known as “Palo Alto”), a seven-episode crime drama from Artza Productions. This show, now starring Magi Azarzar (“The Sirens”), follows a police detective as she uncovers gang warfare and family secrets while investigating a corpse. Both series have been chosen for Mipcom’s drama spotlight.

KI is also selling “Rough Diamonds,” an eight-part drama set in Antwerp’s iconic diamond district and co-produced by De Mensen and KI for Netflix and VRT, and “Echo 3,” which stars Jessica Ann Collins as a kidnapped scientist with Luke Evans and Michiel Huisman plotting to bring her home. It’s produced by Keshet Studios for Apple TV+. Meanwhile “Conflict” is a six-part multi-language political thriller produced by Backmann & Hoderhoff and XYZ Films.

KI’s schedule features various documentaries. These include “Catch Me If You Can,” a 10-part crime docuseries from Woodcut Media, as well as “Hitler’s Treasure Hunters” by Perpetual Entertainment, which is a six-episode series about the Nazi theft of historical artifacts. Additionally, there’s “Seven Wonders of the Ancient World,” a six-part ancient history series from SandStone Global, hosted by Professor Bettany Hughes.

As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but be intrigued by some alternative, unscripted series that have caught my eye. Among them are “World’s Most Evil Killers,” produced by Woodcut Media, the eighth season of the nail-biting reality show “Trucking Hell” from Crackit Productions, and the internationally acclaimed “Dear Neighbors.” This latter series follows parents in rural communities as they strive to help their ambitious offspring find a suitable romantic partner locally.

“Kelly Wright, KI’s distribution head, announced that we’re adding two unique relationship dramas to our already popular lineup – the heartwarming romcom ‘Save The Date’ and the suspenseful European thriller ‘Too Much Love.’ These new additions will be joining our shortlisted titles for MIP drama showcase, ‘The 11th Body’ and ‘Valhalla Project,’ along with two other KI-produced thrillers, ‘Rough Diamonds’ and ‘Echo 3.'”

“At Mipcom, we’re making a major debut. We’ve approved not one but two shows for production and distribution, which will now be part of our factual lineup. We’re thrilled to introduce ‘Catch Me If You Can’ and ‘Hitler’s Treasure Hunters’, joining forces with BBC One’s ‘SAS: Catching the Criminals’, featuring former SAS legend Billy Billingham.”

The company representing both production and distribution is making a return to Cannes with their largest team since 2019, led by sales coordinator Kate Orlovsky, stationed at Riviera 7 within the Palais des Festivals.
