In the midst of Elden Ring: Nightreign, where several companions struggle (and often fail) against formidable bosses, a modder has introduced a chilling randomizer mod. This modification is designed to make the game even less predictable and exponentially scarier.
With FromSoftware consistently introducing tougher post-release bosses for players to conquer, modders keep coming up with innovative solutions. Yet, isn’t unpredictable chaos more thrilling than mere randomness?
Elden Ring Nightreign gets randomised
Fifth Matt’s Nightreign Randomizer and Derandomizer mod (accessible here) is designed to alter the multiplayer Soulsborne game at startup, offering players the chance to significantly change their game experience for an increased level of difficulty. Furthermore, it provides a derandomiser option, enabling “more predictable playthroughs” if desired by the player.
Every time you start the game, the randomizer switches out standard map patterns with new, randomly generated ones using the randomizer key as a basis. There are several choices available, one of which allows for a more authentic gaming experience while introducing the possibility that any Night Lord could face any Night Boss during gameplay.
Absolutely, what makes this game thrilling yet nerve-wracking is the “Extra Random” mode that eliminates certain rules meant for balance. This results in some incredibly challenging scenarios, like allowing any suitable spawn point regardless of whether there’s a starting camp present, or permitting Shifting Earth Day 2 circle locations that don’t contain the objective.
This modification offers a significant degree of flexibility, enabling players to either choose a pre-set custom mix or fully personalize their experience. It empowers players to boost the rate of Double Night Boss appearances, as well as other customizations, but it’s important to note that there are certain restrictions in place.
The modder clarified that not all parts of the map layouts have been randomized yet; specific events like special events, spawn points (except when “Guarantee starter camp” is unchecked), enemy locations within maps and encounters, or additional final circle spots remain fixed. He also noted that for now, Night 1 and Night 2 bosses are separate entities to avoid progression issues. As a precautionary measure, encounters (camps and bosses) will only appear in specific locations if there’s an existing vanilla map pattern indicating their presence.
The developer eagerly anticipates enhancing Elden Ring Nightreign with further tweaks, aiming to introduce even more unpredictability. With the wild antics witnessed through certain Dark Souls modifiers, one can expect some truly unusual occurrences down the line.
Although not directly provided by the game developers, fans of Elden Ring Nightreign who crave additional difficulty now have an alternative until more timed Everdark Sovereign battles are incorporated. Modders are actively working on expanding player numbers and implementing the Duos mode that FromSoftware overlooked, making randomly generated runs a thrilling choice for players.
