This PGA Tour Player Says He’s Never Met Anyone Better Than Him At Mario Kart 64

Besides being victorious on the PGA Tour, golfer Joel Dahmen boasts about his exceptional skills in Mario Kart 64. In a recent interview on Good Good, he claimed that he hasn’t encountered anyone globally who outperforms him at the 1996 kart racing game yet.

In college, he mentioned that he consistently played the game alongside his golfing roommates Nick Taylor and Kevin Spooner. At the time, they may have been more skilled, but now, Dahmen asserts that he is currently the most proficient.

He asserted that he hasn’t come across anyone yet who can defeat him at Mario Kart N64. In a competition of ten races, he confidently believes he would win six, seven, or eight times. He also mentioned that he dedicates more time to the game than any other player.

Later in the conversation, Dahmen talked about his proficiency with game controllers, explaining that he has a deep understanding of the intricate strategies needed to get an edge on the tracks in Super Mario Kart 64.

The focus here is on maneuvering rather than arranging objects. By mastering the technique of corner blocking and jump blocking, you can gain an advantage quickly. To effectively block incoming items, it’s essential to comprehend angles well.

One strategy he employs is positioning items behind his character as shields against incoming attacks. Additionally, he expressed his fondness for the three green shells, which can be skillfully aimed at opponents to eliminate them from the race or knock them off course. He also highlighted a technique on Mario Raceway, where one can perform a drift, fire all three of these shells off the walls while moving sideways, effectively creating a lethal trap for others.

In the year 2021, Dahmen secured a victory on the PGA Tour, and since then, he has achieved 25 top 10 placements, nine of which were among the top 5, including one third-place finish, and he was runner-up twice. Moreover, Dahmen is a prominent figure in Netflix’s golf series, Full Swing.

It’s been speculated that a new Mario Kart game could be under development for the Nintendo Switch 2. A possible sneak peek of the game was hinted in the January announcement trailer for the Switch 2, but as of now, nothing is definitive. More details might be shared during the April Nintendo Direct event.
