This is who’s playing Dorothy in Wicked Part 2 and it’s not Taylor Swift

Following the release of the Wicked: For Good trailer, there’s been a buzz on social media suggesting Taylor Swift will portray Dorothy. However, this isn’t accurate; we already know who has been cast for that role.

To be honest, I’d have to say that Taylor Swift is one busy lady! She concluded an epic global tour towards the end of 2024, and then she took on the task of re-recording her first six albums – quite a feat! And just when you think she’s done, she goes ahead and purchases the original masters for a staggering $360 million. Simply amazing!

Ever since I heard about the upcoming Wicked film, I’ve been on pins and needles with anticipation! And as much as I admire her for taking a well-deserved break, rumors have started swirling that she might be cast as Dorothy. With just glimpses of her from behind so far, I can hardly wait to see more!

Although the Eras Tour schedule suggests Taylor Swift couldn’t have filmed “Wicked” at the same time, speculation persists about her role, with many images circulating claimed to be AI-generated. However, no official casting announcement has been made yet, and it might remain a secret until we’re in theaters watching the new movie. Still, there are strong indications as to who is likely playing Dorothy in “Wicked Part 2.”

Alisha Weir is still favorite to play Dorothy in Wicked Part 2

Since appearing on the red carpet at Wicked Part 1, Alisha Weir has been widely speculated as the ideal choice to portray Dorothy in Wicked: For Good.

Over the past few years, you’ve probably come across this 15-year-old actor who has appeared in films such as Abigail, Matilda the Musical, and Wicked Little Letters, and is currently working on a voiceover role for an upcoming project called The Land of Sometimes.

Last week upon the launch of Wicked Part 1, Weir didn’t categorically deny the speculations about it.

I’m a huge Wicked enthusiast, and I watched the initial production with my family.

She additionally shared with Spin 1038: “The gossip has gotten quite wild, and I’ve noticed it everywhere. That would be absolutely fantastic. I would adore that. I’m an immense enthusiast of Wicked, and the initial segment is simply amazing.

Regarding Swift, the image circulating on the internet is artificially produced, not authentic. Be cautious with online news sources as they can sometimes mislead – this image was shared by PobBase, a satirical account imitating PopBase, not associated with Taylor Swift in any official capacity. To date, she has not made any public statements about the movie or her possible participation in it.

In the recently released Wicked: For Good trailer, Dorothy’s character appears frequently, hinting at a larger part for her in the film compared to her role in the original musical. In the musical, Dorothy is mentioned but doesn’t physically appear.

He clarified, “I’m not definitively saying she’s a character in the next movie, but there’s a part of me that encourages each person to imagine their own version of Dorothy. However, there is some connection and overlap between characters. So, I’ll let the sequel decide that.
