Following the launch of Path of Exile 2, some players presumed that the original game, Path of Exile, would be overlooked. However, the developers are confident that both games can peacefully coexist, and it appears they may be correct. The latest update, Secrets of the Atlas, has attracted thousands of players back to PoE, surpassing its successor (at least on Steam, according to SteamDB). Nevertheless, there’s a significant issue with the new league – server instability. In a recent announcement, developers have disclosed that these problems stem from Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.

Recently, the PoE (Path of Exile) community team posted an update on both the Grinding Gear Games forum and Steam about the “Secrets of the Atlas” release. This message specifically pertains to this latest update. In their post, the developers acknowledge the players and tackle key concerns, beginning with the priority issue – connectivity.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but notice that it appears European servers have been undergoing some tough times, but it seems others are also at risk. The team has shed light on the issue, stating that these troubles are likely due to DDOS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attacks. In simpler terms, this means an overwhelming amount of traffic is being directed towards the servers from multiple sources or infected machines, potentially causing service interruptions. Although they acknowledge their responsibility in this matter, they firmly believe that such disruptions are unacceptable and express genuine regret. Unfortunately, there’s no clear timeline for when these issues will be resolved due to the complex nature of the breakdown.

Developers have addressed concerns about the console build and will resolve Mercenary instant-kill issues, too. Furthermore, you might notice adjustments to skills derived from Memory in maps linked to The Originator.
