As a long-time fan of horror movies, I must say that Terrifier 3 has truly outdone itself with its latest offering – the goriest scene in the franchise to date. The college shower scene is a masterclass in gruesome cinematography, pushing the boundaries of what’s acceptable in mainstream horror.
In theaters currently, Terrifier 3 delivers intense scenes without a doubt, and one particular moment stands out as the bloodiest in the film, also marking the most brutal demise experienced within the franchise to date.
The Terrifier series strives to challenge conventional limits within mainstream horror. In its initial installment, a woman’s dismemberment was portrayed in a vivid and unsettling manner, whereas T2 showcased an especially gruesome kill using a scalpel, scissors, and bleach – two scenes that have secured top spots on our list of the most remarkable kills in the Terrifier franchise.
Check out our take on Terrifier 3 right here! This time around, you’ll witness a chilling murder reminiscent of American Psycho, which may very well top Art the Clown’s list of most gruesome deeds so far.
But in terms of violence, there’s one scene that’s as gory as it gets. Though we’re going into detail now, so SPOILERS ahead….
The goriest Terrifier scene ever
Towards the finale of the film, as college students Cole and Mia feel an intense attraction, they choose to engage intimately in a shower scene.
A significant error occurs, followed by the ominous appearance of Art the Clown, wielding an enormous chainsaw. He brutally ends Mia’s life with this tool, and likewise targets her companion with equal brutality.
With uproarious laughter, Art brutally dismembers Cole, using tools to slice and saw through his flesh. Mimicking the infamous scene from Terrifier 1, he splits the teenager right through the abdomen.
The scene is quite prolonged, filled with splashes of blood and scattered body parts throughout the bathroom. This particular sequence has been the most gruesome yet within the Terrifier franchise.
At the unveiling of the movie during Fantastic Fest, director-screenwriter Damien Leone disclosed that the scene involving the murder was carefully planned and executed over several days.
According to Leone, the filming lasted approximately 5 days initially. After that, an extra 3 days were spent on it. It takes a full day just to perfect the scene where an arm is cut off, and believe me, that part took quite some time.
Leone further confessed he aimed to surpass the earlier films, stating: “Each film now strives to match or outshine the bedroom scene from Terrifier 2 and the hacksaw scene from Terrifier 1. Therefore, there was extensive preparation involved in achieving this.
Similar to most death scenes, we film them, but we’re rarely satisfied with the result, so we spend an additional month or two perfecting the special effects, and then we go back to shoot extra close-ups or details.
We put a great deal of effort into those effects, particularly when he was passing Cole between defenders and making sharp moves.
