As a longtime fan of Love Island, I’ve grown to adore the vibrant and unforgettable characters that grace our screens each season. Among them, there are those who steal the spotlight with their resilience, wit, and charm, and JaNa and Liv are two such women who have left an indelible mark on me.
As a movie buff, I wouldn’t typically be drawn to Love Island USA. However, something has changed this season that has me feeling quite patriotic. The hype around Love Island USA, which airs on Peacock, is bringing together a dedicated fanbase and the country as a whole. With its near-daily release format, it’s providing an engaging distraction from current events for those of us who are hooked. And right now, I find myself fully invested in the group of attractive 20-somethings featured on the show.
As a longtime fan of this reality TV show, I can’t help but feel elated and excited about this season’s unique twists and turns. With the addition of “personality hires” like Liv, the self-proclaimed protector of every Villa girl, and Rob, the serial dater who manages to evade eliminations, the show has been more entertaining than ever. The unpredictable nature of the Islanders’ brief tenures, with constant bombshells, recouplings, and surprises, keeps us on the edge of our seats. And let me tell you, the speed at which production churns through contestants is nothing short of diabolical!
As a passionate cinema goer, I’ve got to admit that this season of the show has been quite intriguing, thanks to the cast’s mischievous antics. In fact, their wicked whims have sparked so many memes that it’s almost made up for the flop seasons we’ve had to endure in the past.
Leah Calls Rob a Bitch
In episode six, Andrea makes a shocking entrance, and Rob finds himself kissing her in secrecy from his partner Leah. When confronted about his actions, Rob becomes emotional, hides among plants, and ultimately ends things with Leah, praising her as an exceptional woman (“There’s no buts.”). In episode eight, Rob and Andrea reconcile, while episode nine begins with Leah’s scathing makeup room rant. “Everyone should be afraid,” she declares, expressing her disgust after witnessing Rob’s emotional outburst the previous day. “You’re crying to me? I should be crying?”
Which person emerged victorious in the fight?
For now, it’s Andrea.
Which person has gained the most support on the internet recently?
In the vein of Nicki Minaj’s lyrics, Leah has been able to rally the troops and make the antagonist appear even more villainous.
Rob’s Eye Rolls
As a movie critic, I’d rephrase it as: In the eighth episode’s recoupling, Rob dramatically rolls his eyes at Leah muttering “F-you,” unaware that his reaction is about to go viral. Fast forward to episode twelve’s firepit ceremony, where Islanders must eliminate two of their own. The boys unexpectedly choose Hakeem, while the girls opt for Andrea. Rob delivers a heart-wrenching, award-worthy performance: clutching his head in despair, eyes welling up with tears, and Aaron (the British lad in a serious relationship with Kaylor) comforting him. Rob exclaims, “Now you’re sending three home?” as he clings to Andrea. However, he doesn’t leave. Could this be another layer of Rob’s complex character? Perhaps the depths of his emotions are yet to be uncovered.
Who won the fight? Aaron — his boy, his right-hand man was hurting but ultimately stayed.
Who won the internet over? Leah — when she’s wrong it’s spectacular, and when she’s right it’s even better. Ultimately, she was vindicated for pointing out Rob’s empty dramatics
Kaylor’s Endless Tears
From the very beginning, Kaylor and Aaron have been this season’s enduring turbulent couple, refusing to part ways despite their challenges. Kaylor was a peacemaker, always seeking approval from others, while Aaron was a charmer with a wandering eye. It was clear from the start that things would not go smoothly between them. In episode one, Kaylor shed tears, warning signs of what was to come. However, we underestimated their tumultuous relationship when Aaron left for Casa Amor in episode 19. Over the next four episodes, Aaron’s behavior became increasingly erratic as he pursued newcomer Daniela. He engaged in public displays of affection outside of challenges, secretive late-night conversations in Spanish, and even shared a special handshake with both women. Kaylor’s frustration reached its peak when she exclaimed, “Fuuuck, man!” from Fiji. Yet against all odds, the two eventually became an official couple in episode 30, just eight episodes after Aaron’s departure from Casa Amor.
Who won the fight? Apparently Aaron — a seashell necklace ended up being enough to reconcile. If you like it, Kaylor, I love it for you.
Who won the internet over? Kaylor’s liquid eyeliner. It won’t be moved and neither will she.
Nasty, Nasty Kendall
The consequence of being a too-eager supporter can be just as severe as actually carrying out the actions. All through the season, Kendall, who seems to get along well with all the ladies, enthusiastically urges the guys to check out other places called Casa.)
Subsequently, episode 26 reintroduces Movie Night. In one segment, Kendall expresses her approval to Kordell, saying “You have every reason to be thrilled right now. You’re on the right track.” In another part, she teases Daniela and Aaron, commenting that they’ve had a “red-hot” beginning, followed by a chuckle. Towards the end of the clip show, Serena shares her opinion bluntly: “Kendall is undeniably a b*tch. You’re creating chaos!”
Which person emerged victorious from the fight? Nicole did, despite her man being preoccupied with other people’s issues. A victory is still a victory.
Who gained the most popularity on the internet? The Casa Amor girls managed to win over the online community with their focus on their own affairs.
The Kordell-Daia-Serena-OBJ Square
After Kordell came back from Casa Amor with Daia, Serena expressed her disinterest in getting involved in a love triangle following his reported makeout sessions and denial of dry humping allegations. Two episodes later, Daia spoke with Serena privately to clarify the situation, refuting the claim that Kordell had been 90% committed to Serena and only 10% to her, which had been distorted through a game of telephone from Kordell to Miguel and then to Leah. Serena, wearing a large hair bow and baby-blue bikini, moved back and forth across the villa to sort things out.
The ending for Kerena is uncertain until the next day’s social media controversy involving Daia and Odell Beckham Jr.’s Instagram posts. (Later, Kerena expresses doubt over the authenticity of the screenshot.) Kordell defends himself to Serena, who listens more sympathetically. Daia breaks things off with him before he can do the same, and they reconcile during Movie Night, marking a second chance for the original couple.
Who won the fight? Serena — in a beautiful tirade that left no Islander safe but while Kordell won the war.
Who won the internet over? Serena’s hair-braiding business, as soon as it became obvious she was not only touching up her own hair but the only thing standing between Kordell and a protective hairstyle. This is why you don’t cheat on your stylist.
JaNa + Kenny = KaNa
JaNa and Kenny have limited screen time on “Love Island USA,” but their quirky moments have been a delight for fan-editors. With a lighthearted attitude towards everything except love, JaNa is an unforeseen source of humor. As the finale approaches, she continues to amuse with her antics: from her reaction to “Andy’s coming” with Serena, to her line about sunglasses and joining parties, and her famous declaration, “It’s ghetto in here… I love it.” The only major conflict between them arose when Kenny returned Casa Catherine to the villa while JaNa was still single. Distraught at the possibility of losing JaNa, Kenny expressed intense emotions, weeping and seeking comfort from Serena and Leah (no recorded footage of Leah calling him a “bitch” is available).
In the battle for online popularity, I, Kenny, emerge victorious. And let me tell you, there have been quite a few shedding tears of envy.
Liv, the Villa Bestie
Liv, despite not finding success in romantic relationships, played an essential role as a loyal friend in the villa. From the very beginning in episode one, she made an explosive entrance by stealing Rob from Leah and the two kept their romance hidden. Her own romantic connections were mostly low-key. After Hakeem, she encountered several other men including Miguel, who deceived her in a challenge, Nigel, who was quickly eliminated, and Cain from Casa Amor, with whom she claimed it was more of a friendship than romance.
At Movie Night, events recall Andrea’s breakup, igniting an intense argument among Leah, Liv, and Kaylor. Kaylor asks Leah to remove her finger from her face during the heated exchange on the balcony. Leah quips, “You’re giving off ‘scared white woman,'” providing a humorous moment for the season. The Movie Night tension subsides as Liv acknowledges their sisterly-like squabbles in her confessional. Just when things seem to settle down, an unexpected recoupling at the episode’s end sends Liv packing and introduces a new controversy.
