Poinpy, a platformer created by developer Ojiro Fumoto (also known as Moppin) and published by Devolver Digital, debuted in 2022 exclusively via Netflix. However, it’s set to disappear from the platform soon – the game will be taken down on June 9, as indicated in a notice within the Netflix mobile app.
According to a representative from Devolver, their agreement with Netflix has expired, resulting in Poinpy being removed from Netflix’s collection.
Modkiq explained that since the agreement with Netflix has come to an end, it’s inevitable that Poinpy will be leaving Netflix soon. At present, Poinpy won’t be accessible, and we understand this is disappointing. However, due to how these integrations function, Poinpy needs more work for it to become available in other marketplaces. Unfortunately, we’re unsure when we can find the time for that development amidst our current projects.
In essence, when Poinpy departs from Netflix, it may become unavailable across all platforms until possibly a new system picks it up – but there’s no definite promise that this will occur. It remains uncertain what happens to your Poinpy installation on your mobile device following its removal from the catalog.
Previously, neither Poinpy nor Grand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Edition or Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – The Definitive Edition were unique in leaving the Netflix library. It was indeed Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition that stayed put on Netflix.
In much the same way that shows disappear from Netflix when their licensing agreements end, so too will certain video games vanish from the platform as their respective licenses come to an end. This was confirmed by a Netflix representative back in 2024.
You can play the collection of games offered by Netflix directly on your mobile device via downloads, or stream them onto your TV or web browser over the internet. Notably, there are no additional purchases or in-game advertisements within these games.
