Cyberpunk 2077 features a wide variety of memorable weapons, like the Mantis Blades and Skippy. The Phantom Liberty expansion added even more distinct firearms, including the powerful Erebus. While Erebus can be a game-changer in combat, it’s difficult to obtain, leading some players to avoid it altogether.
Why Erebus is so strong and controversial?
The Erebus is a popular and powerful submachine gun with a couple of unique features. First, its bullets bounce off walls and other surfaces, allowing you to hit enemies from unexpected angles and potentially deal extra damage. Plus, it includes a special ability originally developed by Blackwall – the security system that protects the internet from dangerous AI.
- This gun has 5% chance to upload Cyberware Malfunction to enemies.
- It also uploads Blackwall Gateway quickhack to all normal enemies that have less than 33% HP.
This weapon combination is incredibly powerful, giving you a significant edge in combat. It also features an AI that occasionally speaks unsettling lines. The kill animations are frightening, implying a brutal and agonizing death for your enemies. Some players find this combination so disturbing that they feel remorseful while using it and question its morality. Beyond its immediate effects, this weapon is linked to the dangerous and potentially catastrophic forces of the Blackwall.
How to get Erebus in Cyberpunk 2077?
Okay, so getting the Erebus is seriously tricky! You can’t just buy it or find it lying around. First, you *have* to get the blueprint. And it only shows up once during the *Phantom Liberty* story, and only if you make a very specific choice. Basically, during the Firestarter mission, you need to side with Reed and, unfortunately, betray Songbird. Doing that unlocks the Somewhat Damaged quest, which takes place in this creepy, abandoned place called the Cynosure Facility – it used to be a Militech complex.
The Erebus blueprint is located in Sector 2, specifically in the Engineering maintenance room. You’ll find a locked door there. To open it, you need to restore power by diverting it from the nearby Storage Room. Keep in mind you’ll need at least 15 points in Technical Ability to do this. Once the power is restored, you can return to the maintenance room, open the door, and find the blueprint inside.
Now it’s time to build this weapon, but it will require some resources. You’ll need 40 tier 5 Item Components, and a special part called Cerberus’ decoded behavioral system. You can only obtain this special part by completing the “This Corrosion” quest, which automatically starts after you finish “Somewhat Damaged.” Once you’ve gathered everything, you’ll be able to use the weapon.
