Thieves steal $100,000 worth of Pokemon & sports cards from California store

Thieves stole $100,000 worth of Pokemon and sports cards from a California store, including a rare, autographed card of Cristiano Ronaldo.

On December 2nd, KTLA5 reported that three robbers broke into LA Sports Cards in Burbank. They forced open the door with a crowbar and used a saw to get through a metal gate. Once inside, security cameras recorded them filling bags with various trading cards, and in the process, they damaged display cases to reach them.

The robbery itself was very quick, lasting just a few minutes. The thieves got away with three large bags of trading cards, including a rare card signed by Ronaldo. But according to the store owner, Kiet Nguyen, the burglars were primarily after Pokemon cards.

So, it turns out most of what they were after was Pokémon cards. But, they accidentally grabbed some boxes from the back too, and those happened to have sports cards in them!

As a Pokémon fan, it’s crazy to see how much some of these cards are worth! We all know about those super rare cards that go for millions, and unfortunately, stories about people getting robbed for them are happening way too often. It’s really scary!

He explained that the thieves seemed very experienced and knew exactly what they were after. They were focusing on items that were easy to turn into cash, like Pokémon cards. Because these cards are widely available and easy to sell, especially sealed products, selling them wouldn’t attract attention, making them a perfect target.

A local card shop was recently burglarized, and thieves made off with around $100,000 worth of rare Pokémon and sports cards. The owner thinks the burglars specifically targeted valuable items and carefully planned the theft. Police suspect the same group may be responsible for other crimes in the area.

This wasn’t an isolated incident. KTLA5 reported that similar robberies have happened at about six card stores throughout Southern California. Police believe the same three people may be behind all of them, as CCTV footage partially captured one of their faces.

The owner of LA Sports Cards expressed hope that the thieves are caught quickly, before they victimize another local business.
